A method of processing ECG signals from a plurality of electrocardiogram (“ECG”) leads connected to a patient, applying the ECG signals from the ECG leads to a low-pass filter to obtain a low-band filter (“LBF”) energy values for the lead and to a high-pass filter (“HBF”) to obtain high-band filter energy values for the leads. Running averages of LBF and HBF energy values are utilized to calculate signal-to-noise (“S/N”) ratios for the leads. The S/N ratios are used to select two leads for providing ECG signals to an ECG signal processing algorithm.

An ECG monitoring method and apparatus are presented in which contact impedances including capacitive components are utilized to, for example, reduce false alarms for lead-off conditions. In one aspect of the disclosure a method includes monitoring a plurality of Electrocardiogram (“ECG”) electrodes ostensibly electrically connected to a human body; determining the respective contact impedance for each of the ECG electrodes as a plurality of electrical currents is driven through the ECG electrodes in a predetermined pattern, each respective contact impedance including a resistive component and a capacitive component; ascertaining whether any of the determined respective contact impedances exceeds a predetermined threshold; if any of the determined respective contact impedances exceeds the predetermined threshold, issuing an alarm.

The alarm conditions characterize a measurement by and/or operation of at least one medical device and have an associated grade among a plurality of prioritized grades. Thereafter, alarms can be generated that corresponding to some or all of the plurality of alarm conditions such that among concurrent active alarms: (i) an alarm corresponding to an alarm condition having a highest priority grade is conveyed at a first level upon initiation and, if such alarm condition remains active for a pre-defined time period, at the first level upon expiration of the pre-defined time period, and (ii) alarms corresponding to alarm conditions having equal or lower priority grades than the priority grade of the current highest priority grade alarm condition are conveyed at a second level, the second level being different from the first level.

A method and apparatus that displays at least one user interface display image including patient parameter data is provided. An acquisition processor selectively acquires, from a storage repository, at least one type of patient medical parameter data associated with at least one patient acquired over a period of time. A display processor generates a display including at least one display image representing at least a portion of the acquired patient medical parameter data and a navigation bar associated with the at least one display image including a user selectable window identifying a range of acquired patient medical parameter data to be displayed within the display image. A controller is electrically coupled to the acquisition processor and the display processor. The controller controls navigating through the patient medical parameter data and adjustment of the user selectable window, and causes the display processor to modify the generated at least one display image.
