The patient monitoring system wirelessly transmits data associated with the physiological signals to a remote base unit. The wireless transmission of data is carried out in a manner to not be disruptive to the MRI examination. Data can be uploaded to or downloaded from the patient monitoring system and remote base unit using a magnet-friendly electronic storage device, such as a flash memory drive.
