摘要: Mixed allergen compositions of two or more different allergens are provided. In some instances, the mixed allergen compositions include: a nut allergen; an animal allergen; and at least one of: a non-nut plant allergen; a biotic agent; and a vitamin. Also provided are methods of administering the mixed allergen compositions to a subject. The mixed allergen compositions find use in a variety of applications, including health maintenance, immune balance, gut balance, immune support, health improvement and therapeutic applications.

摘要: The present invention relates to the field of GPCR structure biology and signaling. In particular, the present invention relates to protein binding domains directed against or capable of specifically binding to a functional conformational state of a G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). More specifically, the present invention provides protein binding domains that are capable of increasing the stability of a functional conformational state of a GPCR, in particular, increasing the stability of a GPCR in its active conformational state. The protein binding domains of the present invention can be used as a tool for the structural and functional characterization of G-protein-coupled receptors bound to various natural and synthetic ligands, as well as for screening and drug discovery efforts targeting GPCRs. Moreover, the invention also encompasses the diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic usefulness of these protein binding domains for GPCR-related diseases.

摘要: Systems and methods for calibration of retinal prosthetics in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. A closed loop calibration process is described whereby a multi-electrode stimulation regime can be calibrated to a given user's retina. Multi-electrode stimulation can provide increased stimulation selectivity, but significantly increases complexity. Systems and methods described herein provide computational steps that significantly reduce the amount of trials and computation required in order to achieve clinically viable selectivity, making closed-loop calibration of retinal prosthetics possible in significantly less time than open-loop calibration.

摘要: Improved rheometry is provided using an autonomous swimming robot that can be driven at least in an angular velocity mode and in a torque mode. The resulting improved capability can enable measurement of multiple rheological parameters, such as both normal stress components ψ1 and ψ2, by observing motion of the robot in the fluid. The robot is preferably rotationally symmetric. but with a fore-aft head-tail asymmetry that enables propulsion in complex fluids when the head and tail are driven to rotate opposite each other about the rotational axis of symmetry.

摘要: A retina clip in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes a retina clip including an outer ring having a means of retention against the retina, and an inner platform configured to hold a payload against the retina of an eye, where the inner platform is suspended from the inner ring via several springs. In many embodiments, the springs are flexures. The springs can be modified to generate a desired deflection based on a given payload attached to the inner platform. In numerous embodiments, the payload is a microelectrode array used as part of a retinal prosthetic.

摘要: In certain examples, methods and apparatus are directed to a resonator-based circuit which, in operation, has an electrically-conductive band (“band”) at least partially surrounding a center electrode which includes the piezoelectric material of the circuit's resonator. In particular examples, the band acts to electrically load vibrations near resonance and consequently, spurious mode suppression is realized. In more particular example embodiments, the band maintains TE mode while eliminating lateral spurious tones, and in one application-specific example, the resonator-based circuitry and the electrical-conductive band are to provide of facilitate piezoelectric power conversion.

摘要: Systems and methods for predicting and treating relapses for neurological conditions in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes a method for predicting and treating a clinical neurological condition relapse. The method includes steps for selecting a threshold heart rate variability value for a patient suffering from a clinical neurological condition, monitoring, using a cardiac monitor, the heart rate variability of the patient over time, providing an indicator that a relapse is imminent when the heart rate variability of the patient falls below the threshold heart rate variability value, and treating the patient using a transcranial magnetic stimulation device by applying an accelerated theta burst stimulation protocol where the transcranial magnetic stimulation target is the left prefrontal dorsolateral cortex.
