摘要： A digital decoder for a biphase-mark encoded serial digital signal detects edges in the encoded serial digital signal by sampling with a sample clock to produce a blivet signal. The blivet signal is filtered by a one-bit digital lowpass filter to recover a decoded clock signal and to generate a transition window signal. The blivet and window signals are used to detect whether there is a transition within each bit interval defined by the decoded clock signal. A decoded serial digital signal has a logical one for each bit interval in which a transition occurs, and a logical zero otherwise.

A memory receives and temporarily stores the output video signal and provides the delayed video signal, and read/write circuits access the memory so that pixels of the output video signal are spatially translated relative to the video raster when the output video signal is written into and read from the memory.

摘要： An operator interface for a video editing system provides a visual sense of the content of video sequences, as well as their length, while also providing enhanced interactive control of locations and time alignments of the video. As the video sequence is processed into the system, a small but representative sample of each frame is saved in a local memory, while the video itself is stored in mass storage. These samples are used to provide a video pictorial timeline of the underlying stored video. The location of an operator's view into the video sequence is controlled by a cursor's movement along a detailed video pictorial timeline, a reverse motion area and a forward motion area to provide VTR control for location changes on the video tape. The cursor's movement can be controlled by a mouse or a knob. Icons, either static or dynamic, are produced within the motion areas to indicate the amount of selected velocity. Timelines can be marked with time marks, roughly aligned and then automatically fine aligned by the system according to their respective time markers. The editing results associated with these timelines are also time aligned as a result of this process.

摘要： A self keyer with background gap fill adds background video to the gap between the background video and a fill video resulting from self key error. The self keyer performs the general function:Composite=Fill*f(Key)+Background*(1-f(Key)*(Key))where f(Key) is a programmable transfer function used to generate a multiplication factor, f(Key), for shaping or reshaping the fill video and to generate a hole cutting signal, f(Key)*(Key), for shaping the background video. The shaped foreground and background videos are combined to generate a composite video. The transfer function may be generated and stored in a PROM/RAM buffer as a lookup table by a CPU. The transfer function may also be generated interactively by adjusting various points on the transfer function individually, with the CPU storing the resulting transfer function in the PROM/RAM buffer.

摘要： A crosspoint matrix with integrated matte generators includes double buffered internal storage registers which may be serially loaded with mode and selection data to enable the crosspoint matrix to operate in a crosspoint mode wherein a selected input bus is directed to selected output bus. Further, the crosspoint matrix may be operated in a matte generator mode wherein the stored data is supplied to the output bus as a matte signal. The matte signal may be selectively toggled through a series of values to enable operation with both D1 and D2 signals. The data is latched in response to a vertical pulse which enables data values to be written in non-real time as a background task while the actual switch of data is accomplished only upon receipt of a vertical pulse.

摘要： A single loop analog-to-digital conversion and video clamping circuit includes a low-pass filter and analog amplifier that present the incoming analog video signal to an analog-to-digital converter and to the input of a limit detector and protection circuit. The output of the analog-to-digital converter is sampled an integer multiple of four times during the black interval, with the results being summed and averaged. The resulting value is then scaled and limited, and compared to the desired level for a representation of black. Any resulting error quantity is converted from digital back to, analog and modified if necessary by the output of the limit detector and protection circuit. The signal that results from that modification is low-pass filtered and converted to a current by a transconductance amplifier. The resulting feedback current is then applied to a capacitor in the input circuitry, thereby clamping the input and resulting digital output of the overall circuit to the desired level. This circuit is also compatible with automated digital diagnostics, in that changing the desired black level by a small but detectable amount and verifying correct operation can he accomplished even in the presence of a video signal. And, in the absence of a video signal, the reference level can be changed between black and white and the digital output video value can be read back by a microprocessor to verify correct operation.

摘要： An improved chroma keyer has a secondary hue selector for chrominance suppression of "blue fringing" effects. The second hue selector provides a second chroma key signal from a foreground video signal, with the selected hue being offset from that of a primary hue selector. A matte generator having a hue corresponding to the hue of a backing in the foreground video signal is modulated as a function of the second chroma signal. The modulated hue from the matte generator is subtracted from the foreground video signal to produce a modified foreground video signal. The modified foreground video signal is converted into a shaped foreground video signal. The shaped foreground video signal is combined with a shaped background video signal to produce a composited output video signal. The shaped background video signal is a function of a background video signal and a primary chroma key signal from the primary hue selector.
