    Abstract: One or more devices, systems, apparatuses, methods of manufacture and/or methods of use to facilitate thermal sensing in a field related to thermal radiation are envisioned. In one embodiment, an ionic thermoelectric thermal radiation sensor, comprises a substrate, an ionic thermoelectric sensing unit arranged on the substrate and comprising ionically conductive and electrically insulating material, wherein the ionic thermoelectric sensing unit is a voltage-producing unit having first and second surfaces spaced apart from and disposed opposite to one other, wherein the ionic thermoelectric sensing unit produces voltage via thermal diffusion of ions or via the Soret effect under a temperature difference between the first and second surfaces, a thermal radiation absorber that generates heat when exposed to thermal radiation, and one or more electrical connectors that connect the first and second surface.

    Abstract: Rotational translation of an inertial mass rotor is used for providing damping of low frequency noise and vibration. An axial component is mounted so as to translate axial movement of an inertial linearly-displaceable member to rotational movement of an inertial mass rotor. The translation to rotational movement of the inertial mass rotor provides inertial amplification in the form of translational-rotational coupling. This enables the construction of a compact assembly, which allows light ultra-low frequency resonances to be concentrated, and which absorbs such low frequency noise energy.

    Abstract: A system for cost management using blockchain and encryption is provided. The system includes an access interface, a recorder, a determinator, a key generator, an encryptor, and a decryptor. The access interface is configured to provide a platform for users to log in. The recorder is for recording cost information. The determinator is configured to determine whether the cost information recorded in the recorder is non-sensitive. When the cost information is determined as being non-sensitive, the cost information is directly uploaded to and recorded on a blockchain network via a smart contractor module. When the cost information is determined as being sensitive, the key generator generates a symmetric key randomly. The encryptor is configure to encrypt the cost information using the symmetric key to obtain ciphertext information and encrypt the symmetric key using public keys to obtain encrypted keys. The encryptor sends the ciphertext information to the blockchain network.

    Abstract: One example embodiment is a method for preparing a sample including one or more RNA molecules, including the steps of: (i) reacting the sample with a reaction mixture including a poly(A) polymerase and one or more predefined nucleotide analogues to add a first sequence including one or more predefined nucleotide analogues to individual 3′-end of the one or more RNA molecules, such that one or more first tailed RNA is formed; and (ii) adding a plurality of adenosine triphosphates (ATP) to the reaction mixture, such that the first tailed RNA is reacted with a plurality of adenosine triphosphates (ATP) to add a second sequence including a plurality of adenine nucleotides to individual 3′-end of the first tailed RNA, such that one or more second tailed RNA is formed. Other example embodiments are described herein. In certain embodiments, the disclosed methods and kits are quick, simple and easy to operate.

    Abstract: A multifunctional and modular geotechnical testing device for testing a soil sample is provided. The testing device includes a testing cell, a plurality of needle probes, and a plurality of lateral pressure-measuring sensors. The testing cell has an oedometer ring for accommodating the soil sample, with a plurality of holes located on and angularly distributed over an internal lateral surface of the oedometer ring forming a plurality of channels to access the soil sample from outside. The plurality of needle probes, each configured to house a pore water pressure-measuring sensor, is detachably mountable to the plurality of channels from outside for simultaneously measuring the pore water pressures. The plurality of lateral pressure-measuring sensors is removably attachable to an inner peripheral side of the testing cell for measuring lateral pressures of the soil sample.
