摘要: A two-stage driver supplies current to a light emitting diode (LED) load. The driver includes a first stage and a second stage. The first stage has a first flyback converter. The first stage is configured to receive a non-regulated voltage input and to generate a substantially constant bulk voltage across a first-stage output filter capacitor. The second stage has a second flyback converter. The second stage is configured to receive the bulk voltage from the first stage. The second stage is further configured to generate a desired current through the LED load. The second stage is electrically isolated from the first stage such that the LED load does not share a common ground reference with the non-regulated voltage input to the first stage. The driver further includes an auxiliary power supply coupled to an auxiliary winding of a transformer of the first flyback converter to generate an auxiliary voltage.

The second stage has a flyback converter having a flyback transformer with a primary winding and a secondary winding. The primary winding is turned on and off by a gating signal. An induced voltage in the secondary winding rings when a current in the secondary winding is discharged. The flyback converter is configured to turn on the primary winding only during a detected valley in the ringing of the secondary winding. If the primary winding is turned on during a detected valley different from the previous detected valley, a valley jump is detected and the switching frequency is adjusted.

摘要: An LED driver includes a temperature sensing circuit integrated within its housing. The sensing circuit generates signals corresponding to actual temperature values within the driver housing to a controller. The controller receives programmable temperature derating parameters at least partially related to a light fixture receiving the driver housing, converts the temperature sensor signal into the actual temperature value, and derates the output current in linear fashion according to a transfer function when the actual temperature value falls within the temperature derating parameters. The parameters may include starting and ending temperatures, and an ending current parameter. The temperature sensing circuit may include a voltage divider with a negative thermal coefficient (NTC) device, preferably as the high side resistor. The temperature sensing circuit may typically provide a non-linear output across the temperature range, wherein the controller converts the non-linear output from the sensing circuit into a linear output for the transfer function.

摘要: Circuitry and methods are provided for dynamically controlling the operating frequency of a resonant power converter. A feedback circuit generates error signals representing a difference between sensed output voltages and a constant target output voltage. A controller comprises a frequency control input terminal, and generates drive signals to half-bridge switching elements at determined operating frequencies. A frequency control circuit is coupled between the feedback circuit and the frequency control input terminal. The frequency control circuit sets minimum and maximum operating frequencies for the controller, and dynamically adjusts the operating frequency with respect to the constant target output voltage. A frequency control power supply circuit may further provide signals to the frequency control circuit representative of voltage across the resonant capacitor, wherein the minimum operating frequency is dependent thereon. The minimum frequency may be reduced with decreasing of the output voltage, and a maximum current may be reduced with increased overloading.

摘要: A low profile inductive apparatus is provided via one or more traces in a printed circuit board, the one or more traces defining inductive winding turns about an aperture, and a core comprising an elongate core member configured for positioning through the aperture of the circuit board. The core may be press fit with respect to the printed circuit board, or alternatively the elongate core member and the aperture may be reciprocally threaded. In an embodiment, core flanges may be provided on opposing sides of the printed circuit board, with the elongate core member connected between the core flanges and extending through the aperture. The number of inductive winding turns relates to a required inductance of the inductor when the elongate core member is positioned through the aperture, and a width and thickness of the windings corresponds to a required carrying capacity of the inductor.

A DC-DC power converter (e.g., a PFC circuit) comprises an integrated circuit (IC) and converts the first DC power signal into a second DC power signal in response to a multiplier signal received at a multiplier input of the IC. A multiplier input circuit as disclosed herein is coupled to the first and second rectifier input terminals and provides the multiplier signal to the multiplier signal input terminal, wherein the multiplier input circuit is decoupled from the energy storage device via the main rectifier.
