The auxiliary device for harvesting pasture includes tires having a predetermined width and weight as a rolling body, a holding portion to rotatably hold the tires, and an attaching portion to attach the holding portion to the front of a tractor which tows a roll baler. In the constitution of the auxiliary device for harvesting pasture, the attaching portion is attached to the front portion of the tractor and a line of collected grass is subject to rolling pressure by rolling of tires in accordance with movement of the tractor. Instead of the tires, a cylindrical body or a columnar body, or either one which is made in the form of metal cylindrical body or columnar body can be mounted.

A windrower (1) useful for collecting stalk material from a field (43) and depositing the material In a windrow (61). The collection of dust and debris in the windrow is minimized by the use of a screen (24) located above the auger (29) which transports the cut stalk material to a discharge chute (14). The screen (24) permits lighter airborne particles to escape from the region surrounding the auger (29) before they are entrained and deposited into the windrow. A screen (47) is also placed beneath the auger (29) to permit small, dense particles to fall from the region surrounding the auger and be deposited on the ground (43). A flexible barrier (48) is placed between the auger and the cutting assembly (32) so that material falling through the screen is not reintroduced to the cutting blades (39, 42). A second barrier (64) is positioned behind the auger so as to form a volume (66) within which material is confined so that it will not become airborne. The windrower wheels (3-10) are adjustably spaced and arranged in pairs so that the number of individual wheels riding on a peak contour (56) within the field (43) is maximized.

A farm tractor apparatus having twin front mounted adjustable hay rakes supported on the front of a conventional-type farm tractor and a hay baler mounted for pulling by said same tractor. The twin hay rakes will produce double windrows for reception by the towed hay baler of the rolled bale type for simultaneously baling two rows of hay. The hay rakes have adjustment means at the rear portions thereof to vary the width and size of the windrows produced as well as front adjustment means for varying the overall sweep width and the front expanse in order to drive the apparatus over normal roads and through normal size gate structures. The hay rakes are of the floating type and have gauge and support rollers associated therewith and being part of the combination. A feature of this invention is in the provision of hydraulic power means for allowing the tractor operator to make some of the aforementioned adjustments while in the driver's seat.

A pair of separate, obliquely disposed, angled-in rakes of the rotating tine bar type are mounted slightly forwardly of the pickup in the marginal areas along side the path of travel of the pickup to engage outlying materials and converge them inwardly into the main portion of the windrow as the baler advances. The tine bars are driven independently of forward motion of the baler by drive mechanism on the baler, and each of the rakes is provided with its own gauge wheel to permit the rake to rise and fall relative to the baler as changes in ground contour are encountered. The rakes slightly overlap the pickup in a lateral sense at their inner end so as to assure discharge of the crop material into the path of travel of the oncoming pickup, and the discharge ends of the rakes are spaced forwardly of the pickup a sufficient distance as to permit the velocity of the rake material to be substantially diminished by the time it is engaged by the pickup.

A bale positioning device is disclosed for positioning bales in a manner such that pickup by an agricultural loading machine is facilitated. The positioning device is mounted near the intake bale chute of a conventional bale loading machine and includes a spider wheel that is adjustably mounted for free rotation on one end of an arm that has the other end adjustably connected with a bell crank mechanism such that said spider wheel is both lifted and rotated upon actuation of the bell crank mechanism. When the spider wheel is brought into contact with a bale that is not properly positioned, the wheel will cause the bale to be shifted about a vertical axis and/or a horizontal axis as the machine proceeds forwardly to thereby properly position the bale for entry into the intake chute of the pickup machine. Should the bale need to be rotated about a horizontal axis during positioning, the bell crank mechanism is actuated while the spider wheel is in contact with the bale to cause the spider wheel to be lifted and rotated to thereby provide the needed rotation to the bale during positioning of the same. The positioning device is also capable of repeatedly rotating the bale about a horizontal axis should such rotation be necessary or desirable such as, for example, to move a bale away from a ditch or fence line to facilitate pickup.

A wide windrow raking apparatus which may be retroactively fitted to a hay baler as an after market product or which may be fitted to a hay baler by the manufacturer is disclosed. The apparatus employs an extension frame between the hay baler and its towing tractor to which commercially available wide windrow power rakes may be attached. The apparatus includes activation and control assemblies, powered by the tractor, required to operate and store the attached power rakes. The apparatus allows the user to rake and bale hay in a one pass operation. The apparatus further provides a mechanical "power take off" extension shaft between the hay baler and its tractor. The apparatus allows the power rakes to be independent of the tractor which means that the tractor may be used for other tasks immediately after disconnecting from the baler/extension frame.
