Abstract:
A berley dispenser, including a container to store berley, a homogenizer within the container to form a homogenized berley from one or more predetermined homogenized berley settings where each setting corresponds to a particular fish type, a discharge port to discharge the homogenized berley, and a controller to control the homogenization of the berley by the selection of the one or more predetermined homogenized berley settings to form the homogenized berley and control the discharge of the homogenized berley. The controller can communicate with a GPS navigator, fish finder or other similar device to coordinate the homogenization of the berley and/or discharge of the homogenized berley.
Abstract:
A fish calling device for attracting predatory fishes by mimicking all sensory characteristics of a prey including appearance, sound and smell is disclosed. The device is configured to spray water into a waterbody around the device in a circular or a semi-circular pattern, thereby mimicking the appearance of a group of bait fishes. The water is sprayed to create the sound of a bait fish trying to escape from the predatory fishes when sprayed onto the waterbody. A scent bag is attached to the sprayer for dispersing/dispensing a smell through the water sprayer thereby mimicking the smell of a bait fish. Thus the device activates three senses of the predatory fishes including sight, hearing and smell for attracting them while fishing/competition.
Abstract:
A biodegradable hydrogel has been made based on high concentrations of whey protein isolate (WPI). WPI gels of different compositions were fabricated by thermally inducing gelation of high-concentration suspensions of protein, and characterized for compressive strength and modulus, hydration swelling and drying properties, mechanical behavior change due to polysaccharide additives, and intrinsic pore network structure. The gels were shown to be compatible with bone cells and could be used as bone tissue scaffolds. In addition, WPI fibers were produced by electrospinning. Several additives could be incorporated into the WPI gels, including structural additives, growth factors, amino acids, etc. The WPI hydrogels can be made with glycerol to increase flexibility and stability. The hydrogels could be used for tissue regeneration, food protection, controlled-release applications (including drug encapsulation, dietary supplement release, attractant release in lures, nutrient release to plants (fertilizers), column packing for compound separation, and membrane development.
Abstract:
An apparatus for accurately cutting baitfish at a compound miter angle of forty five degrees. The apparatus automatically centers the bait fish within a transverse well at the bottom of a half pipe tube capable of accommodating various common bait fish sizes. The compound miter cut provided by this apparatus exactly matches the compound miter found within the construction of the Sure Spin Herring Helmet® Angler Innovations. The present apparatus is easily washable and leaves no trace of fish scent between uses as it is constructed from non-absorbing high density polyethylene (HPDE). The apparatus further provides safe usage as downward pressure is applied to the cutting tool and bait fish as the cutting tool blade enters the blade slot groove. The present apparatus is constructed with two half pipe options to accommodate multiple bait fish dimensions.
Abstract:
Described herein are synthetic bait compositions and methods for manufacturing synthetic baits that dissolve instantaneously in aqueous media or over a period of seconds up to about 40 days and attract marine organisms. The synthetic baits utilize chemotactic cues to attract marine organisms.
Abstract:
The present invention describes a bait rigging holder constructed from only a single block of material such as plastic. The bait holder is provided with a first pair of side members having a trough or slot extending along the entire length of these first pair of side members. A second pair of side members extend from the end of the first pair of side members and are also provided with a slot or trough therethrough. The height of the second pair of side members is less than the height of the first pair of side members. The bait rigging holder is utilized to rig a bait fish, such as a ballyhoo by allowing a fisherman to appropriately attach the bait fish to a hook, such as a circle hook.
Abstract:
A fish hook is baited by placing a morsel of bait in a well located at the top end of a block having a slot extending along a side of the block. The slot is located relative to the well such that upon placing the shank of the fish hook in the slot, with the tip of the hook confronting the well and aligned with the bait in the well, and then drawing the shank along the slot, the bait is impaled upon the tip of the hook with safety and with accuracy. The baited hook then is withdrawn from the block in a direction which militates against inadvertent pulling of the tip of the hook out of the bait.
Abstract:
The current invention involves a universal fishing bait fundamentally comprised of a cord body of filaments or strips of fibrous collagen made up into any shape or design capable of attracting fish, that is 100% biodegradable and that furthermore has a good capacity to diffuse and liberate attractant substances. The bait invented presents excellent mechanical properties in terms of resistance to breakage and resistance to tearing, is easily manipulated, transported and stored. Similarly, the invention provides for the use of fibrous collagen in the preparation of said universal fishing bait.
Abstract:
A soft gelatinous food elastomer composition and article useful as fishing bait formed from one or a mixture of two or more of a thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers) and one or more plasticizers and a food or components of food. The plasticizers being in sufficient amounts to achieve a gel rigidity of from about 20 gram Bloom to about 1,800 gram Bloom
