摘要: Neuromuscular monitoring is described that uses a novel lead assembly and a monitor that can select the appropriate electrodes on the lead assembly and calibrate the stimulation signals applied to the patient through the lead assembly. The monitoring can also set a noise floor value to reduce the likelihood of an erroneous train of four ratio.

摘要: An Implantable Pulse Generator (IPG) is disclosed that is capable of sensing a degree to which recruited neurons in a patient's tissue are firing synchronously, and of modifying a stimulation program to promote desynchronicity and to reduce paresthesia. An evoked compound action potential (ECAP) of the recruited neurons is sensed as a measure of synchronicity by at least one non-active electrode. An ECAP algorithm operable in the IPG assesses the shape of the ECAP and determines one or more ECAP shape parameters that indicate whether the recruited neurons are firing synchronously or desynchronously. If the shape parameters indicate significant synchronicity, the ECAP algorithm can adjust the stimulation program to promote desynchronous firing.

An upper limb multi-joint impedance measurement apparatus includes an upper limb end connector connected to an end of an upper limb of a subject, a driver configured to drive the upper limb end connector so that the upper limb end connector applies perturbations to the end of the upper limb of the subject, a measurement controller configured to provide the driver with a control signal for the perturbations, a force sensor configured to detect a magnitude of a perturbation force applied to the end of the upper limb of the subject by the upper limb end connector, a position sensor configured to detect a variation of a position of the upper limb end connector according to the applied perturbations, an impedance calculator configured to calculate a mechanical impedance of the upper limb of the subject by using force data and position data indicating the detected magnitude of the force and the detected variation of the position, and an impedance output unit configured to output an output signal indicating a value of the calculated mechanical impedance.

摘要: The present specification discloses an intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) system including a computing device capable of executing an IONM software engine, a stimulation module having multiple ports and various stimulation components and recording electrodes. The system is used to implement transcranial electrical stimulation and motor evoked potential monitoring by positioning at least one recording electrode on a patient, connecting the stimulation components to at least one port on the stimulation module, positioning the stimulation components on a patient's head, activating, using the IONM software engine, at least one port, delivering stimulation to the patient; and recording a stimulatory response on the patient.

摘要: A computer implemented method includes supplying stimuli to an organism, measuring brain activity of the organism responsive to the stimuli and producing a brain feature activity map characterizing the brain activity. The operations of supplying, measuring and producing are repeated for different stimuli to form a brain feature activity map database. New stimuli are received. New stimuli features are mapped to a projected brain activity map. The projected brain activity map is compared to the brain feature activity map database to identify similarities and dissimilarities between the projected brain activity map and entries in the brain feature activity map database to designate a match. The new stimuli are characterized based upon the match.

摘要: An illustrative electroacoustic hearing system includes a loudspeaker and a processor configured to: direct the loudspeaker to present a sound to a recipient by way of a length of tubing extending from the loudspeaker to an ear tip disposed at an ear canal of the recipient, the directing configured to cause the sound to have a target sound pressure level at the ear canal; obtain a detected sound pressure level of the sound as the sound is presented at the ear canal, the detected sound pressure level obtained from a probe microphone disposed within the ear tip; identify a discrepancy between the detected and target sound pressure levels of the sound as the sound is presented at the ear canal; and direct, based on the identified discrepancy, a remedial action to be performed to compensate for the discrepancy.
