Abstract: A control driving method for a radiotherapy device is disclosed. The radiotherapy device includes a collimator and a plurality of radioactive sources, wherein the radioactive sources are disposed within a preset angle range in a longitude direction, the longitude direction being a circular direction perpendicular to a central axis of the radiotherapy device, and the radioactive sources are configured to emit beams that intersect at a common focus after being collimated by a collimator. The method comprises: obtaining at least one protection angle range and driving the radiotherapy device such that no beam from the plurality of the radioactive sources within the at least one protection angle range is emitted.

Abstract: A radiation therapy system comprises a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system combined with an irradiation system, which can include one or more linear accelerators (linacs) that can emit respective radiation beams suitable for radiation therapy. The MRI system includes a split magnet system, comprising first and second main magnets separated by gap. A gantry is positioned in the gap between the main MRI magnets and supports the linac(s) of the irradiation system. The gantry is rotatable independently of the MRI system and can angularly reposition the linac(s). Shielding can also be provided in the form of magnetic and/or RF shielding. Magnetic shielding can be provided for shielding the linac(s) from the magnetic field generated by the MM magnets. RF shielding can be provided for shielding the MRI system from RF radiation from the linac.

Abstract: In various embodiments, a radiation therapy method can include loading a planning image of a target in a human. In addition, the position of the target can be monitored. A computation can be made of an occurrence of substantial alignment between the position of the target and the target of the planning image. Furthermore, after the computing, a beam of radiation is triggered to deliver a dosage to the target in a short period of time (e.g., less than a second).

Abstract: This invention proposes a capsule to administer radiation to a patient to be mounted on an arm, preferably a robotic arm such as on and in coordination with a Da Vinci® Surgical Robot, in order to control radiation exposure using a cylindrical shell shutter system designed to minimize leakage from a centrally located radiation source, while permitting full exposure of irradiated subject material or space when the cylindrical shell shutter system is opened. Using a series of concentric cylindrical shells which each contain an offset conically-shaped aperture from that of an adjacent cylindrical shell, when the cylindrical shells rotate into an “open” position, the apertures form a smooth cone to an outer emission aperture and expose the radiation source to adjacent tissue. When rotated to be “closed” or “off, the offset apertures and shells occlude the source, preventing full-strength radiation exposure and minimizing radiation leakage.
