    摘要: A flame mitigation device (26), along with associated systems and methods, is disclosed. More particularly, a flame mitigation device (26) has at least one sensor (25) configured to sense a flame (21), and at least one suppression agent (28) release device configured to release a flame suppression agent into the projected flame path when the flame is sensed. The sensor (25) may sense the flame either directly or indirectly. A flame mitigation system (26) is also disclosed, wherein the system includes an enclosure (22) and at least one pressure release device configured to release a flame from the enclosure. The system (26) may include at least one sensor (25) configured to sense the flame (21), and a device configured to release a suppression agent (28). A method of mitigating a flame in a combustible material system is also disclosed.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is an ambient mist head for extinguishing fires that comprises a plurality of mist nozzles attached to a head. The mist nozzles are arranged spatially on the head at various angles. The number of mist nozzles, the spatial arrangement and the angular placement of the mist nozzles can vary, depending on the area of coverage required. The angular placement of the mist nozzles on the head is effected so that the mist stream emerging from one mist nozzle does not impinge on a mist stream emerging from another mist nozzle. The angular placement of the mist nozzles thereby provides a maximal amount of mist production, and minimizes the occurrence of streams of water droplets.

    摘要: Apparatus and methods for protecting process equipment from a fire and/or an explosion are provided. In particular, the apparatus and methods utilize Seebeck sensors or thermoelectric generators to detect the propagation of a flame front or deflagration wave within the process equipment. Upon detection of the deflagration wave, the system controller activates mitigation apparatus which may be in the form of a chemical suppressant or isolation valves in order to protect the process equipment from damage.

In the method, conveying air is monitored with at least one fire detector (500) and, based on the detection, the conveying system is affected by isolating the fire to a certain part of the system and/or by diminishing the conditions of burning.     摘要: A detector arrangement is included in a preventive safety system that can be used within a process in which loosely formed process material is produced in a first unit (1) and transported (3) to a receiving, second unit (2), wherein the treatment to which the material is subjected in said first unit is liable to produce one or more discrete particles which have a temperature sufficiently high to initiate fire and/or explosion within at least the second part or unit (2). The necessary transportation of the loose material between the first unit (1) and the second unit (2) is effected along a path which includes a stabilizing zone (7), a high temperature particle indicating zone (8), and an extinguishing zone (9), wherein the indicating zone includes one or more particle sensors (10). The sensors coact with an indicating and activating unit (12) such that indication by the sensors of the presence of a high-temperature particle in said indicating and activating unit will activate a device which is associated with the extinguishing zone and which functions to deliver an extinguishing agent and/or to remove particles (15). The sensing lobes of two sensor units (105, 107) cover a cross section of the transportation path. The indicating and activating unit (12) is adapted to evaluate the sensed intensity from each of said sensor units (105, 107) and to coordinate received intensity-dependent signals so as to calculate and establish on the basis thereof the liability of the particle to initiate fire and/or explosion.

    摘要: A fire suppression and control system for a commercial cooking unit having a conventional chemical fire retardant discharge system has a flexible fire curtain supported by a hood and adapted to enclose the cooking unit from the room between the hood and the floor. A housing for storing the curtain in folded condition is positioned on the hood and includes a release mechanism for releasing the curtain from the housing when a fire occurs. A heat-responsive control for discharge of the fire-resistant chemical is coupled to the release mechanism for the curtain to release the curtain at the time the fire-retardant chemical is delivered to the cooking unit. The fire-retardant chemical is preferably a Halon 1211 gas. The release mechanism includes an electromagnetic coupling which is connected through an electrical circuit to a switch at a mechanical actuator for the valve in the chemical fire-retardant delivery system.
