    摘要: A pipe threading machine accessory for utilizing a pipe threading machine to pull wire includes a spindle configured to couple to the pipe threading machine. A puller is positioned through a conduit such that a first end and a second end of the puller protrude from respective opposing ends of the conduit. The first end is configured to couple to the spindle and the second end is configured to couple to a load. The spindle is configured to be rotated by the pipe threading machine such that the puller is spooled around the spindle. The puller and the load attached to the second end of the puller are drawn through the conduit.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing pipe joints for connecting two pipe sections in a well bore allows the pipe joint to have increased resistance to compressive and torsional forces. Each pipe joint has a box member for matingly engaging a pin member, the pin member being threadingly connected to the box member to create the pipe joint. Threads are created for the pin member on a tapered exterior surface of a pipe, the threads being axially disposed between a pin end terminal surface and an external shoulder. A tapered surface having a recess is created for the box member on an interior of a pipe, the tapered surface being axially located between a box end terminal surface of the pipe and an internal shoulder, the recess being axially located just behind the box end terminal surface of the pipe. Threads are cut into the tapered surface of the box member, the threads beginning behind the recess and traveling axially away from the box end terminal surface. Since the threading pass for the box member begins behind the recess, threads are not cut through the box end terminal surface giving, this surface an increased contact area. When the pin member and the box member are threadingly connected, the box end terminal surface engages the external shoulder of the pin member. The increased area of the box end terminal surface gives the pipe joint increased compressive and torsional resistance.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method directed particularly to improving a modified threaded buttress collar. The method is also of value with any internally threaded member having a seal ring groove therein. The method specifically deals with the removal of the feather edge thread created when a seal ring groove is placed within an internally threaded member. Such groove usually provides residence for a seal ring. When the groove is placed in the internally threaded member there is created a feather edge thread immediately adjacent the groove. This feather edge thread is easily deformable and can create severe galling problems within the coupling.The feather edge is removed, preferably, in stepped fashion utilizing a machining tool such as a grooving tool within a computer numerically controlled lathe. The grooving tool is set such that as the coupling turns in the lathe, the movement of the grooving tool matches the pitch and helix of the threads and the speed of the lathe. However, the grooving tool is offset such that it is placed on a collision course with the thread. The groove allows some running time for the grooving tool to be properly positioned for the specific thread pitch and helix. The feather edge is removed in several passes, each being deeper than the last until, ultimately, the feather edge is removed to a depth equal to the depth of the finished threads.

    摘要: To simplify the apparatus and reduce handling, a pipe threading section and a pipe cutting section are axially aligned with respect to a pipe clamping apparatus, both located at the same side of the pipe clamping section. A guide is provided, extending parallel to the axis of the pipe, to guide the clamping section on the apparatus for movement in selected positions, the moving distance of the clamping section being greater than the distance between that side of the threading tool of the pipe threading section and the cutting tool of the cutting tool section which faces the clamping section.

    摘要: A device for cutting threads on a workpiece such as a pipe, and especially conical threads such as pipe threads, in which a chuck housing is nonrotatably but axially moveably connected to a cutter housing. A workpiece is inserted in the chuck housing with the end of the workpiece engaging cutters in the cutter housing and is clamped in the chuck housing. A drive drives the cutters in rotation thereby forming a thread on the workpiece while drawing the workpiece through the cutters and a drive mechanism is actuated by the movement of the workpiece and chuck housing toward the cutter housing for causing gradual retraction of the cutters during a cutting operation. At the end of the cutting operation, the cutters retract outwardly and the workpiece can then be removed and the parts of the device restored to the original position thereof preparatory to another cutting operation.
