摘要: Microinjectors are provided. A microinjector includes a substrate, a channel, a nozzle formed at an end of the channel, and a deformable mechanism disposed on the substrate. A droplet is generated by ejecting fluid through the nozzle. The deformable mechanism comprises a piezoelectric layer and a flexible member. The flexible member connects the piezoelectric layer and the substrate, defining a part of the channel. When an electrical field is applied to the piezoelectric layer, the flexible member and the piezoelectric layer are deformed, altering profile of the channel.

摘要: In the embodiments of the simplified ink jet head described in the specification, a carbon body is formed with ink passages, such as internal passages extending through a carbon plate, pressure chambers on one side of a carbon plate, flow-through passages on the other side of the same plate and ink supply passages, and a piezoelectric plate is affixed to the pressure chamber side of the carbon plate by a thin layer of epoxy adhesive. The piezoelectric plate may have a conductive coating on one side which is photo-etched to produce an electrode pattern corresponding to the pattern of the pressure chambers in the carbon plate. An orifice plate may have specially profiled orifice openings to assure axial projection of drops and may be affixed by a thin layer of epoxy adhesive to a carbon plate having orifice passages supplying ink from the pressure chambers to the orifices. Since the carbon plate is conductive, it can be used, if desired, as an electrode on the opposite side of the piezoelectric plate and, to assure grounding of the piezoelectric plate, a conductive epoxy adhesive may be used to bond the piezoelectric plate to the carbon plate. Moreover, since the carbon plate is porous, it can provide a communication path between a vacuum source and an air-permeable, ink-impermeable layer on the ink passages to remove dissolved air from the ink in the passages. In one alternative embodiment, an ink jet head assembly contains two separate carbon pressure chamber plates, a carbon manifold plate and a carbon collar to retain the carbon plates in an assembly.

Each of the piezo bending transducers of a piezo bending transducer drop-on-demand print head is subjected to a sequence, corresponding to the desired print image, of triggering pulses each effecting a drop discharge movement and, assigned to each triggering pulse, each piezo bending transducer neighboring the piezo bending transducer triggered by the triggering pulse is subjected to a compensating pulse deflecting it. The piezo bending transducer drop-on-demand print head has a nozzle plate with nozzles arranged in series. Respectively assigned to each nozzle is a piezo bending transducer which can be subjected to a triggering pulse accompanied by a drop being discharged from the respective nozzle. There is a control device by which each of the piezo bending transducers can be subjected to triggering pulses and compensating pulses in accordance with the method of the invention.

摘要: A drop-on-demand ink-jet printing head provided with an array of a plurality of piezoelectric elements arranged at regular intervals and fixed at their one ends to a base, the other ends of the respective piezoelectric elements being free ends which are disposed in opposition to nozzle respective apertures, the piezoelectric elements being formed by cutting, at predetermined width, a piezoelectric plate obtained by firing a lamination of paste-like piezoelectric material conductive material stacked alternately in layers. Since each piezoelectric element is composed of a thin piezoelectric plate interposed between electrodes, if a voltage of only about 30 V, which is sufficient to drive the thin piezoelectric plate, is applied across the electrodes, it is possible to largely flex the whole of the piezoelectric element. By this transformation, ink between the top end of the piezoelectric element and the nozzle aperture is discharged to the outside as an ink drop. Because the driving voltage required for forming an ink drop is as low as possible, it is possible to simplify a driving circuit, and because of cutting a piezoelectric plate, it is possible to form small-sized piezoelectric elements with the same accuracy as in a process of producing a semiconductor.
