摘要: The invention provides a method of depositing a soluble material on a substrate comprising the steps of: loading the soluble material into an ink-jet print head; providing a flow of gas between the ink-jet print head and the substrate or adjacent thereto; and ejecting the material from the print head so as to deposit it on the substrate. Also provided is an apparatus for depositing a soluble material on a substrate, comprising an ink-jet print head and gas flow means for providing a flow of gas between the ink-jet print head and the substrate or adjacent thereto. In a preferred arrangement, heating of the substrate during deposition is also provided. In a most preferred arrangement, the deposition is additionally conducted on the basis of continuous formation of a sequence of partially overlapping dots.

摘要: A gas assisted liquid jet apparatus, suitable for use in ink jet printers, includes a transducer housing having a plurality of ink passages and is designed to be used with solid or hot melt ink. The apparatus operates with a compressed air source to provide a laminar air flow through an orifice from where ink is ejected. As a result, ink ligaments and droplets uniformly accelerate toward the printing medium, and the high speed laminar flow reduces friction at the orifice, thus reducing the formation of ink ligaments or satellite droplets. The apparatus may be made by attaching different layered members together. This improves the efficiency and ease of fabrication of multiple array liquid jet apparatus. Because of the layered structure, ink passages and air chambers each may be placed in a selected layered member or in more than one layered member. The location of the ink passages in the same layer or structure, such as the transducer housing, as a heater provides improved heating capabilities. The location of the ink passages in the transducer housing also minimizes the overall width of the apparatus.

摘要: This invention provides an ink mist type high speed printer comprising a first electrode and a second electrode between which a high voltage is applied, and an aperture board disposed between the first and second electrodes and adapted to selectively control passage of the ions generated from the second electrode, wherein a stream of ink mist is passed between the aperture board and first electrode so that the ions which have passed the aperture board will selectively charge the ink mist particles to let the charged ink mist particles deposit on a recording paper placed between the ink mist and first electrode to thereby print a desired dot matrix character. The first electrode is divided along its length into plural segments such that the respective segments may be separated individually from the aperture board, and the width of the first electrode is determined in correspondence to the width of the recording paper while controlling the width of the first electrode opposed to the second electrode so as to eliminate the possibility of deposition of ink mist on the aperture board.
