摘要： Mechanism is provided to selectively rotate and tilt a single element type carrier to position a character in a selected row and column location for printing. Rotation and tilt from a rest position is effected by spring biased cranks normally held in a rest position by a fixed stop on one of a pair of cyclically operable bails. The rest position defining stop is located farthest from the bail pivot in the path of contact surfaces on the cranks. Other stops on the bails are located at various distances from the bail pivots and are selectively positionable for cooperation with contact surfaces located at various distances from the crank pivots where-by the degree and direction of rotational movement of the cranks are controlled according to the distance of positioned stops on the bails from their pivots as the bails are oscillated or, if no stop is positioned then by the fixed stop.

摘要： A selector system for a type-bearing element of a typewriter, accounting machine or other office machines, wherein a positioning member for the type-bearing element is positioned positively by a series of cam followers movable by a corresponding series of cyclically actuated cams and controlled by selectively settable stop elements. The type-bearing element comprise a shell on which the types are distributed in rows and columns. The shell is rotatable on a support sleeve provided with two side walls external to the shell. The types are distributed in two groups selectable by a transport mechanism connected to the type-bearing element through differential gears controlled by a bistable spring and two stop elements.

摘要： Mechanism responsive to discrete character signals is provided for selectively rotatably positioning a type disc clockwise or counterclockwise from a home position to present the selected character on the type disc for printing. The mechanism comprises a driven lever pivoted intermediate its ends which is cycled about its pivot in response to each character selector signal from a keyboard. When cycled, one of the arms of the driven lever is adapted to drive an associated rocker from a rest position and through its other arm is adapted to allow an associated rocker to be driven from a rest position. The movement of the rockers, the magnitude of which is determined by interposers representative of characters which are selectively interposed between associated arms and rockers at various distances from the pivot of the driven lever, controls the pivotal movement of associated frame supported crank levers spring urged against the rockers. The crank levers carry pulleys about which a cable is trained with one end of the cable secured to a frame part and the other to a spring drum on the type disc shaft thereby to rotate the type disc clockwise or counterclockwise according to which of the crank levers is pivoted and to a position corresponding to the angle of pivoting thereof.

摘要： A variable cam profile selection system is disclosed having cams controlling both the tilt and the rotate motion of the single element typewriter. The tilt cam and rotate cam are mounted so that they may be moved with respect to their support to vary the cam rise. The rise of the cam is controlled by interposers under the influence of the keyboard to select or define the amount of movement of the cam member, thereby defining the cam rise. The single cam member for each movement may be positioned in any one of a plurality of positions and, by so doing, correspondingly effect the movement of the cam follower as the cam is rotated about an axis.

摘要： A converter for converting binary codes into mechanically controlled movements which contains adjustment means which by means of an outside signal source is given a special adjustment for each code, a plurality of sets of cam discs, mounted and axially displaceable on a common shaft and adjustable individually with respect to a zero position of the adjustment means, each set of cam discs is disposed with axial cams facing one another, and stopping means and entrainers cooperating with the adjustment means, and that a converter drive system comprises an axial arrangement of the cam disc sets arranged on the common shaft which passes through the converter and on which a cam disc forming part of a pair of cam discs of each set is journalled and driven in an oscillating movement by an indexing mechanism which is driven by rotating means to produce limited relative movements between the discs in the respective cam sets, transformed into axial displacements of the discs relative to the zero position.

摘要： In a printing control device provided with a printing element having a plurality of characters thereon and operable to selectively present any desired character to a printing position, two-position control elements are connected to the printing element to control the amount of displacement required for one of the characters to be selected. Transmission elements are provided to cause the control elements to predetermine or prepare one of the two positions thereof, respectively. The control elements, caused to predetermine or prepare a particular position by the transmission elements, are driven toward the particular position by a drive means. At least one bias means is provided for biasing the transmission elements so as to predetermine or prepare a first position. The biasing force of the bias means is limited by a plurality of limit means to hold the transmission elements so as to predetermine or prepare a second position. The limit imparted to the bias means by the limit means is released selectively by electromagnetic solenoids to selectively bias the transmission elements so as to predetermine or prepare the first position. The transmission element so selectively biased is caused by at least one restore means to return to the position for predeterming or preparing the second position with the aid of the drive from the drive means and against the biasing force of the bias means.
