摘要： A collapsible tire for a passenger vehicle, comprising at least one carcass reinforcement optionally associated with an inextensible crown reinforcement, itself radially on the inside of a tread, two beads and two sidewalls, said beads comprising at least one inextensible circumferential reinforcing element called a bead wire, said bead wire defining, when free of any stress, a mean line forming a substantially circular closed curve in a circumferential plane, wherein the invention is characterized in that the bead wire of each bead is flexible, wherein after the tire has been collapsed, the mean line of the bead wire simultaneously defines a first curvature, and a second curvature, the first and second curvatures being connected together by a third connecting curvature, the projection of said first, second and third curvatures of the collapsed tire onto an axial plane defining the two-dimensional envelope by way of a total perimeter P of less than or equal to [3×(2H+A)], H being the height of the sidewall and A the width of the tire, and a collapsing method for the tire.

摘要： The present invention concerns methods and apparatus for spreading beads in a tire. Particular embodiments of such methods include securing at least a portion of a first bead of the tire and positioning a tire spreader within the central opening of the tire, the tire spreader having a bead engaging portion for engaging a portion of a second bead generally opposite the secured portion of the first bead. Such methods may further include automatically translating the bead engaging portion of the tire spreader generally in an axial direction of the tire to displace the engaged portion of the second bead a desired distance to increase the distance between the opposing beads to form a widened interior cavity opening.

摘要： A wheel inflation apparatus including a wheel engagement unit that suspends a tire/wheel assembly and at least one inflation unit coupled to the robotic arm, each inflation unit being configured to inflate the tire/wheel assembly. A load measuring unit is configured to sense an amount of load being applied to the wheel/tire assembly. A controller is coupled to the load measuring unit for receiving a load signal and determining an internal air pressure of the tire/wheel assembly based on the load signal. The controller controls the at least one inflation unit based on the determined internal air pressure and a target (desired) air pressure value.

The diaphragm features an outer, annular, restraining layer comprising at least two fabric plies, with oppositely directed mutually parallel reinforcing cords disposed at an acute angle relative to the circumferential center-line of the diaphragm. An inner, annular, tread engaging layer comprises at least one fabric ply comprising mutually parallel reinforcing cords disposed at an angle of substantially 90* relative to the circumferential center-line of the diaphragm. An annular, tubular, air-tight bladder member is sandwiched between the outer and inner layers, which is inflatable through a valve disposed in the outer diameter of the tube.

摘要： A bead extending resilient ring, one portion of which offers less resistance than the balance of the ring to provide a selected differential local resistance. An extruded resilient ring having a seam formed by abutting the two ends of an extruded cross section and wherein the portion at or adjacent the seam provides a differential resiliency whereby the extender gasket formed by the ring is guidably moved when radial and axial pressures are applied to the ring. Several cross sections and surface treatments are indicated which provide superior performance in controlling the movement of the extender and a dimple may be provided in the surface of the resilient ring to index the flow of the ring from between the wheel and tire and in avoidance of scuffing of the ring by the inflation valve base where scuffing is a problem.
