The brake device is configured to discharge brake fluid into a communicating fluid path that connects a fluid path of a primary system and a fluid path of a secondary system, and to control a first communicating valve for restricting a flow of brake fluid from the communicating fluid path to the fluid path of the primary system and a second communicating valve for restricting a flow of brake fluid from the communicating fluid path to the fluid path of the secondary system in respective valve-closing directions, so as to check at least a state of the pump.

In the case where the right front wheel target pressure is zero when the fluid pressure regulating valve is to be opened so as to make the wheel cylinder pressure in the left rear wheel approach the left rear wheel target pressure, the brake turns off the first motor.

By this, a wheel cylinder maintains hydraulic pressure capable of generating the required braking force. As a result, the pump motor is not necessarily always driven when the required braking force is generated, and the operating time period of the pump motor is reduced. As a result, a load on the pump motor is reduced to enhance durability of the pump motor.

Further, the invention relates to a computer program product defining an algorithm that comprises a method for improving the control behavior of motor vehicle control systems.
