摘要： A dock leveler for an edge of a loading dock which includes a frame, a two-piece lip, a lift assist spring and an assist bar. The lift assist spring is connected on a first end to the bottom side of the lip at the pivot point and connected on a second end to the frame. The assist bar is used to move the lip between the extended/engaged and retracted/disengaged positions. By attaching the lip assist spring to the bottom of the distal lip portion, the force exerted on the lip causes it to maintain closure at the pivot point between the distal and proximal lip portions when in the extended/engaged position. Additionally, the distance between the lift assist spring and lip is minimized thereby dampening a fall distance when the lip becomes unsupported by a truck trailer; and the amount of force needed to actuate the assist bar is minimized.

摘要： Dock leveler safety supports are disclosed herein. An example dock leveler disclosed herein includes a deck movable relative to a platform between a raised position and a lowered cross-traffic position when the dock leveler is in a working configuration. The deck to be inhibited from descending toward the lowered cross-traffic position when the dock leveler is in a service configuration. A first deck obstruction is movable relative to the deck between a secured position and an unrestrained position. The first deck obstruction in the secured position configures the dock leveler in the service configuration. The first deck obstruction in the unrestrained position configures the dock leveler in the working configuration. The first deck obstruction in the secured position to block movement of the deck toward the lowered cross-traffic position and the first deck obstruction in the unrestrained position to permit movement of the deck toward the lowered cross-traffic position. A first connector to couple the first deck obstruction to an obstruction actuator. The first connector including a rod, a sleeve to telescopically receive the rod, and a spring held in compression between the rod and the sleeve.

An example method includes raising a front end of a deck above a platform, where the front end is elongate in a lateral direction and the front end extends laterally between a first side and a second side of the deck. The method includes manually pulling a first deck obstruction in the lateral direction out from the first side so that the first deck obstruction extends out over a perimeter of the platform. The method further includes lowering the front edge of the deck until the first deck obstruction descends upon and engages the platform.

摘要： A dock leveler with a pivotal deck includes a stop mechanism that provides the deck with a positive stop at the deck's vertically stored position without the deck's actuator having to be fully extended. With the actuator being less than fully extended, the stop mechanism and actuator can exert opposing forces that help prevent the deck from rocking back and forth as the deck settles to its stationary, upright position. In some cases, the stop mechanism is part of a combination stop-and-lock mechanism that includes a locking device for temporary providing a redundant or alternate lock that prevents the deck from descending unexpectedly while the dock leveler is being serviced or repaired.

摘要： A shield system for shielding the area underneath a dock leveler allows a gap to be created either above or below the shield when the deck rises, whereby a shield of a given height dimension can used on dock levelers of various lift heights. In some embodiments, the shield is a pliable curtain that a tensioner holds taut during some operations of the dock leveler, yet the curtain can collapse for below-dock operation. The shield system can be used on horizontally storing dock levelers or vertically storing ones. In some cases, the system includes a pliable web that extends between a front face of the deck and a lip extending from the deck. The web can help seal the area adjacent to a pair of dock bumpers.

摘要： A bumper assembly for a loading dock includes a bumper that is moveable between an operative position and a stored position. In the operative position, the bumper extends well above the dock platform to prevent excessively high trucks, trailer beds, and cargo containers from being parked over the top of the dock platform. In the stored position, the bumper is positioned so as not to obstruct loading and unloading of cargo. In some cases, the bumper is biased to the operative position to encourage operators to normally leave the bumper in that position. In some embodiments, the bumper is selectively moveable away from the vehicle or container that the bumper is blocking to facilitate subsequently moving the bumper to its stored position.
