摘要: The present invention relates to an elevator system for use during an emergency. The elevator system comprises two elevator shafts constructed adjacent to each other. Each elevator shaft houses an elevator car. The elevator system operates without the use of a building's power source by incorporating a primary pulley system to move the elevator cars. Generally, the elevator cars work in tandem such that as one elevator car goes up its respective elevator shaft, the other elevator car will go down its respective elevator shaft. Moreover, a secondary pulley system and a gear system are employed to also facilitate movement of the elevator cars without using the building's power supply.

摘要: A first slidable auxiliary pinion (58a) on the bottom of a horizontally moveable elevator cab A (FIGS. 2-6) disposed on a car frame (14) or a landing is moved out from under the cab toward another car frame (13) or landing by means of a motorized pinion (56) until it engages a motorized pinion (57) on the adjacent car frame (13) or landing, which then pulls the auxiliary pinion and the entire cab toward the other car frame or landing until a main rack (45) fixed to the bottom of the cab engages a motorized pinion (34) on the other car frame (13) or landing, which pinion then pulls the entire cab onto the other car frame or landing. The auxiliary racks (58a, 58b) may be mounted on a common auxiliary rack member (58), or may be separate. The auxiliary motorized pinions (55, 56, 57) may be bidirectional, or may be; and auxiliary pinions (32C, 33C, 34C) may be; mounted on the same shaft with main pinions (32b, 33b, 34b).

摘要: A safety brake of the type for use in hoist. As a hoist cage descends or ascends faster than a predetermined safety speed, a corresponding high speed motion is transmitted to a main shaft of the safety brake through a input pinion gear connected to the main shaft for engagement with a vertical rack attached to a hoist tower. Movable braking disks are attached to the main shaft for rotation therewith. Fixed braking disks are interleaved with the movable disks. Such high speed motion causes a dog retained in the main shaft to centrifugally move outwardly to engage the drum. The actuator assembly connected to the drum acts to cause the drum to move against the fixed and movable braking disks.

摘要: Apparatus for receiving and/or delivering articles comprises a generally horizontal conveyor having a number of cars arranged to travel along it. A receiving station and a delivering station are located in the path of travel of the cars along the conveyor. Each car has doors at its ends which are normally kept closed but which are arranged to open as the car approaches the receiving end delivering stations and to close on leaving the stations. The receiving station has a plate located below the base of the car but engageable therewith and means are provided to retain articles in the car on the plate as the car passes through the receiving station. The delivering station has a similar plate located below the base of the car but engageable therewith and a mechanism is provided to retain articles on the plate until the car passes through the delivering station when it picks up the articles from the plate automatically. The plate of the receiving station and the plate of the delivering station are mounted on respective vertical elevator frameworks and each can be moved between a first position in which it is engageable with the base of a car and a second position in which it is located above or within a respective drawer at the base of the associated elevator framework.

摘要: An elevator has a pair of vertical and parallel T-section rails having central legs directed toward each other, forming a vertical plane, and formed with straight-across teeth. A car vertically displaceable between the rails has respective pairs of guides flanking the rails and restricting movement of the car horizontally only perpendicular to the plane. Respective sprockets rotatable on the car about axes perpendicular to the plane also have straight-across teeth meshing with the rail teeth. These sprockets lie in the plane and constitute the only restriction of horizontal movement of the car relative to the rails in the plane A drive synchronously rotates the sprockets to vertically displace the car along the plane on the rails. A manual safety can vertically displace the car along the rails. The guides are disks fixed to and sandwiching the sprockets. A brake on the car operatively engageable with the sprockets can arrest the car if the power fails or the like. An idler wheel between the rails above the car carries a cable having two ends, one of which is attached to the car. A counterweight is attached to the other cable end, the manual safety being coupled to the idler wheel.
