It has been found that aqueous coating compositions comprising a blocked organic polyisocyanate and quaternary sulfonium group-containing resin containing isocyanate reactive groups can be electrodeposited. These compositions deposit on the cathode to provide coatings having excellent properties including solvent resistance, salt spray and detergent resistance, hardness, flexibility, and most importantly a resistance to yellowing, especially when used to formulate white or pastel coatings.

The present invention relates to a thioepoxy compound for an optical material, a polymerizable composition including the thioepoxy compound, and a method for producing a thioepoxy optical material by polymerization of the polymerizable composition. The polymerizable composition further includes 4.1 to 15% by weight of 2,3-epoxypropyl(2,3-epithiopropyl)sulfide and/or 2,3-epoxypropyl(2,3-epithiopropyl)disulfide. The thioepoxy optical material is free from color instability, demolding, and polymerization imbalance, which are problems encountered in general thioepoxy optical materials.

Disclosed is a method for improving the flexibility of a phenol or mercapto resin wherein an aliphatic hydroxyl-functional polyol or polyepoxide component is partially capped with a phenol or mercapto capping agent followed by chain extension with a polyisocyanate under reaction conditions wherein said polyisocyanate substantially selectively reacts with aliphatic hydroxyl groups or epoxy groups residual from the prior step of the process.
