Abstract: A system and method for cleaning, preparing, and treating a new or used equipment surface with surface property modifiers. The method may comprise a cleaning procedure using clean water, a preparation of substrate to verify all areas of the substrate are clean and dry, a chemically preparation of the surface of the substrate by using a 1st alkaline preparation chemical and 2nd neutralizer preparation chemical to raise the surface area tension as high as possible and remove any hydrocarbon molecules and any possible organic oils that were left over from the metal forming, rinsing and drying substrate by using Isopropyl Alcohol to speed up the process, and applying at least an oxidizer to modify the surface property, such that a strong covalent bond can be formed, thereby preventing impurities from adhering to the treated surface.

Abstract: A chemical agent resistant coating composition can include a fluoropolymer, a dispersible acrylic resin, a flatting agent, and a hydrophobic additive. The coating composition can include at least 10 weight % of the flatting agent based on the total solids weight of the coating composition, and the flatting agent can include ground fiberglass, a hyperbranched (meth)acrylic resin, and an additional flatting agent. The hydrophobic additive can include a wax. When the composition is applied to a substrate and cured as a coating, the coating has an 85° gloss of less than 3.5, a water contact angle of greater than 80°, and desorbs a maximum of 180 micrograms of bis(2-chloroethyl) sulfide and a maximum of 40 micrograms of O-pinacolyl methylphosphonofluoridate, according to testing under MIL-PRF-32348. A method of preparing chemical agent resistant coating compositions and substrates at least partially coated with the chemical agent resistant coating compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract: Modified plastic surfaces with perfluoropolymers are provided, whereby plastic surfaces that are intended for use under tribological conditions have substantially improved assembly properties and/or sliding friction properties and exhibit a very low degree of wear. Accordingly, modified plastic surfaces with perfluoropolymers are provided in which modified perfluoropolymer (micro)powders are present at the surface of plastics that comprise olefinically unsaturated double bonds at least at the surface such that the modified perfluoropolymer (micro)powders are chemically covalently bonded via a radical coupling of the olefinically unsaturated double bonds with perfluoropolymer (peroxy) radicals of the modified perfluoropolymer (micro)powders after a reactive conversion under mechanical stress at room temperature.

Abstract: Methods of reducing the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the Earth's atmosphere during coating operations are provided, as well as a coating composition comprising a carrier and one or more fluorocopolymers. The carrier comprises VOC compounds and the one or more fluorocopolymers is produced by copolymerization of (1) a first monomer selected from the group consisting of hydrofluoroalkenes, (2) a second monomer comprising vinyl ester(s), and (3) a third monomer comprising vinyl ether(s), wherein at least a portion of the vinyl ether monomer is a hydroxyl group-containing vinyl ether, and wherein the one or more fluorocopolymers comprise at least about 70% by weight of the coating composition and the VOC portion of the carrier is not greater than about 30% by weight of the coating composition.

Abstract: Described herein is a polymer comprising: interpolymerized units of (i) a fluorinated terminal alkene monomer and (ii) a tertiary amine-containing fluorinated monomer comprising at least one of a vinyl amine, a substituted vinyl amine, an allyl amine, a substituted allyl amine, and combinations thereof; wherein the polymer can be amorphous or semi-crystalline with a melting point no greater than 325C. Dispersions thereof and methods of making and using the same are also described.
