摘要: A growth factor delivery scaffold combines a heparin/fibrin-based delivery system (HBDS) with a backbone based on polymer nanofibers for tissue (e.g., tendon and ligament) repair. The scaffold has improved surgical handling properties compared to the gelatinous consistency of the prior art HBDS system and retains the capability for delivering mesenchymal cells and controlling the release of growth factors. One application for the scaffold is mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy for flexor tendon repair. The scaffold can deliver growth factors in a sustained manner, can be implanted for flexor tendon repair, is biocompatible, and is not cytotoxic. The growth factor delivery scaffold may also be used in the surgical repair of an injury to bone, muscle, cartilage, or other tissues.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a simple process for the modification of the specificity of a peptidase of the hemostatic system by coupling polymers to the peptidase causing it to lose its reactivity in the hemostatic system, but enabling it to continue to react with certain inhibitors, effectors and substrates. The invention is furthermore directed to processes for the detection or quantitative determination of inhibitors of the peptidase in bodily fluids or other samples as well as to processes for their neutralization and/or removal from liquids. Finally, the invention allows the use of a polymer-coupled peptidase as drug and furthermore provides a device which makes use of such a peptidase in the removal of peptidase inhibitors from samples or from the bloodstream of a patient.

摘要: The present invention disclosed the cloning and the purification of a mutant of prethrombin-2, which contains a thrombin cleavage site instead of a factor Xa cleavage site. The stable mutant prethrombin-2 is able to convert itself autocatalytically into active α-thrombin in the absence of ecarin or factor Xa. The new concept of signal amplification using self-replicating enzymes can be applied to improve sensitivity of α-thrombin assays and also for the preparation of different enzymes.
