摘要: A stand-alone, roadway barrier includes: an internal structural framework (5), (7), (9) which provides the barrier with rigidity for resisting collapse of the barrier in response to impact of a vehicle, panels (13) mounted to opposite sides of the structural framework for deflecting vehicles on impact with the barrier; and ballast (33) in a lower section of the barrier for contributing to the weight of the barrier.

摘要: An end treatment array for crash attenuation includes a transition barrier module formed of side walls, end walls, a top wall, and a bottom wall, wherein the module walls together define an enclosed interior space. The end treatment array further includes a containment impact sled having an axially extending frame. The frame has a width sufficient to contain the transition barrier module within the frame when in an assembled configuration, and has an axial length which is at least one-half the length of the transition barrier module. The frame defines an interior volume, the purpose of which is to contain a substantial portion of the transition barrier module in the assembled configuration, and to contain debris caused by destruction of the plastic barrier modules in a vehicular impact. The containment impact sled is attached to the transition barrier module.

摘要: A barrier structure is provided with bolt-down pockets, allowing the structure to be installed as a semi-permanent or permanent structure. The bolt-down pockets are at uniform spacing along the base of the barrier structure and located on opposite sides of the structure. A bolt-down bar extends across and through the base at each pair of bolt-down pockets. Additional reinforcement is provided by rebar bent a generally “U” shape, sometimes called a “hairpin” shape. Toward each end of each bolt-down plate, the base of the “U” shaped rebar is welded to the bolt-down plate near a bolt hole in the bolt-down plate with the legs of the “U” extending at an angle up into the concrete structure. Further reinforcing at the sites of the bolt-down pockets is provided by rebar, forms to the cross-section of the precast concrete structure. sometimes called “stirrups”, bent in a form which generally conforms to the cross-section of the precast concrete structure.

摘要: Disclosed is a one-piece, encapsulated, plastic product formed by a single extrusion operation using many different materials so a first portion of the article is made of one material, and the other portions of the article, encapsulated by the first portion, are made of many different other materials. The portions are fused together while hot, to create a one-piece article, preferably in the approximate shape of a peanut. The one-piece plastic products are manufactured by using an underwater pelletizing system. Different various materials, such as plastics, paper, wood fibers, metals, and glass are fed into the pelletizer system using process water as its transporter. Examples of use for the one-piece, encapsulated product are in landfill drainage and ventilation, septic drainage aggregate, concrete reinforcement aggregate, playground safety surfaces, preschool play material, manufacturing parts separator, chemical scrubbers, drag strips, truck and airport run off areas, and backing material for safety walls.

摘要: A crash cushion includes a plurality of resilient, self-restoring tubes each having a center axis and an interior surface. At least some of the tubes are positioned such that respective ones of the center axes are spaced apart in a longitudinal direction. The center axis of at least one tube is substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis extending in the longitudinal direction, with the tube defining a diametral plane intersecting and oriented substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The center axis of the tube lies in the diametral plane. One or more segments are positioned in the tube, with the segments, or portions thereof, disposed on opposite sides of the interior surface of the tube. Each of the segments or portions is symmetrically secured to the tube relative to the diametral plane, with the tube being substantially open between the opposing segments. Various methods of using and assembling the crash cushion are also provided.

摘要: A module suitable for use in a crash barrier has a diaphragm with opposite first and second sides. First and second cellular foam blocks are coupled to the first and second sides of the diaphragm respectively. A wrap layer surrounds a periphery of the first and second cellular foam blocks. A sealant layer may be applied to the wrap layer. In one embodiment, the wrap layer is configured as a metal cover member. A crash barrier may be configured with one or more modules. A method of manufacturing a module includes adhering first and second cellular foam blocks to opposite sides of a diaphragm and wrapping a wrap layer around a periphery of the first and second cellular foam blocks. A transition rail may be connected between first and second crash barriers.
