摘要： Attempts to retract the bolt of a combination lock by inserting a combination are sensed by a sensing lever and registered by a ratchet gear which drives a cam surface. Upon the registration of a predetermined number of successive unsuccessful attempts to retract the bolt, the cam surface engages the fence lever that operates the bolt and moves the fence lever to a position wherein it cannot be engaged by the tumbler means, even if the correct combination is inserted. The disabling mechanism is reset by entering a special reset combination to return the cam to its disengaged position, after which the lock will respond to the proper combination. Reset is also accomplished each time the correct combination is inserted by action of the retraction of the lock bolt.

摘要： A padlock includes a lock body, a locking element movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, a latch, a user manipulable lock interface, an actuator mechanism, and a counter member. When the lock interface is operated to a sequence of N correct code entry conditions, the latch is moved from an initial locked position to an unlocked position. When the lock interface is operated to any one of the plurality of code entry conditions, the actuator mechanism engages the counter member and incrementally advances the counter member toward a stop position. When the lock interface is operated to a sequence of N code entry conditions in which at least one of the sequence of N code entry conditions is an incorrect code entry condition, the counter member is moved from the start position to the stop position before the latch can be advanced to the unlocked position.

摘要： A combination lock having a restrictive manipulation or limitedtry feature to prevent the opening of the lock by trial and error manipulation. The mechanism recognizes and counts each unsuccessful attempt at finding the proper code. After a predetermined number of unsuccessful attempts to open the lock, the mechanism renders the lock unopenable, without the knowledge of the illicit manipulator but will continue to accept additional manipulations. A registering device, associated with the mechanism, will reset to permit the opening of the lock by the owner only when the proper code is dialed before the predetermined number of unsuccessful attempts has been reached.
