    摘要: A retractable rigid dome for protecting a feature, such as a docking mechanism, a hatch or other equipment on an exterior surface of a space vehicle, includes a plurality of rigid arcuate segments, each having opposite ends respectively pinioned at opposite sides of the feature at about the surface of the vehicle for rotational movement about an axis of rotation extending through the opposite ends thereof and through an arcuate path of rotation extending over the feature. The radial sizes of the segments are staggered such that, in a fully deployed position of the dome, in which adjacent segments are rotated apart from each other at a maximum relative angle therebetween, the segments combine to form an arcuate shield over the feature, and in a retracted position of the dome, in which adjacent segments are rotated together at a common angle relative to the surface of the vehicle, the segments are nested in radial alignment with each other.

    摘要: A door and doorway construction includes a doorway structure having a lock jamb, a hinge jamb, and a header defining a doorway opening. An adjustable door is constructed to fit mateably into the doorway opening. The doorway structure includes an overhead expressway construction configured to structurally support a weight of the door and further adapted to carry utilities over the doorway opening. The doorway structure is vertically adjustable to align the expressway construction with adjacent wall units, which results in size changes in the doorway opening, and the door is adjustable to define an adjustable vertical height shaped to fill the doorway opening despite the size changes. In one form the door is pivoted to the doorway structure with hinges located above and below the door and at a centerline of the door. In another form, the door is slidably mounted to the doorway structure by a door-supporting boom that includes a trolley rollingly supported by the doorway structure and a downrigger that is rigidly supported on the trolley. The downrigger pivotally supports the door, and the trolley includes a breakaway latch such that the door can be broken away and pivoted outwardly if the door is pressed on with sufficient force. Additional illustrated door embodiments include a solid wood door and a floor-to-ceiling door that incorporate the above features.

    摘要: An adjustable door and frame assembly adapted to fit door openings of different sizes. The door is made up of a core piece having a plurality of height and width extension members which may be removably attached thereto to change the dimensions of the door. The door also has vertically adjustable door knob and hinge receiving assemblies. The frame includes a hinge jamb member, a strike jamb member, and a header member and a plurality of frame extension members which may be attached in varying numbers to the frame members to change the height and width of the frame. All the frame members are made up of a door strike member and a facing member with interfitting tongue and groove assemblies that allow the thickness of the frame to be adjusted. Preferably, all parts of the door are made of a plastic material so that the door is lightweight, easy to clean, and free from warping, swelling, splitting, and rotting.

    摘要: A temporary closure with a solid pane of for example glass framed in a quadrangular frame that includes four side members forming at least a part of each their side of the frame sides; eight corner members each telescopically connected to a side member and in pairs forming the four corners of the frame; four longitudinal mountings fastened on each their side member and each arranged to displaceably receive an area of the pane, and a fastener for fixing the pane in a wanted position in the frame. The frame includes at least one corner plate fastened on each of the corners of the frame and having sides that are longer than the extent of the adjacent mounting in the transverse direction. The temporary closure can be mounted and demounted quickly and easily, and its size can be changed to adapt to an opening. The temporary closure gives good security against the intrusion of unauthorized persons, as the solid pane cannot easily be broken through or cut open in the same way as panes consisting of a flexible plastic sheet.
