    摘要: An engine efficiency system for a vehicle includes an electromechanically operated oil distribution device disposed proximate an oil environment of the vehicle. Also included is a current detection system for detecting a current change rate of the electromechanically operated oil distribution device, wherein the current change rate corresponds to a viscosity of an oil disposed in the oil environment of the vehicle. Further included is at least one efficiency device activated over a range of the viscosity of the oil.

    摘要: An oil supply system for a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine is disclosed in which the supply of oil to piston cooling jets is controlled by pressure operated valves designed to open at a pre-defined valve opening pressure. The pressure of oil supplied by a pump is controlled to be below this pre-defined valve opening pressure during operation of the engine in which piston cooling is not required, and the pressure of oil is controlled to above the pre-defined valve opening pressure when piston cooling is required. The control of the pump is by an electronic control unit based upon a combination of engine speed and engine load.

    摘要: A four-stroke engine comprising an engine frame including a block and a head, the block forming at least one cylinder and a crankcase. A piston is mounted for reciprocation in the cylinder, and a crank and connecting rod are mounted in the crankcase and connected to the piston. The crankcase includes a fuel inlet port and an outlet port, and a duct connects the outlet port to an intake passage in the head. The inlet port is connected to a supply of a combustible mixture comprising fuel, lubricating oil and air. During engine operation, the mixture flows through the crankcase, the duct, and the air intake passage to the cylinder. Valves and valve actuating mechanisms control the flow of the mixture to the cylinder and the flow of exhaust from the cylinder. The oil in the mixture lubricates the engine parts in the crankcase, the valves and the valve actuating mechanisms. The duct preferably forms a plenum or surge tank containing the mixture under pressure. The engine may include more than one cylinder and piston, such as a two-cylinder engine having pistons which move in synchronism to produce crankcase compression.

Fouling of the spark plugs is reduced by using a gasoline fuel composition (e.g., 95-98 Octane) containing a small proportion (usually 0.2-10% by volume, preferably 0.4%) of a mineral oil, e.g., engine lubricating oil.

    摘要: A fuel-air mixture is supercharged by a stuffed crankcase of an engine and is forced into a large volume reservoir from which it is metered by a throttle to intake valves of the engine. The fuel-air mixture in a carburetor is adjusted automatically by vacuum and/or mechanical linkage in accordance with air flow through the carburetor. Oil is forced from a sump in the reservoir by the pressure of supercharged mixture in the reservoir, through small orifices in an oil line to lubricate the engine. A second engine has radically cammed intake valves in addition to conventionally cammed valves, and valving provided between a large volume reservoir and the radically cammed valves is closed at engine speeds below 4,500 r.p.m. and is opened at speeds above 4,500 r.p.m.
