    摘要: When an alcohol mixed fuel is supplied to an internal combustion engine, the magnitude of the alcohol concentration is determined, and the magnitude of an operation state temperature is determined on the basis of the determination. When the alcohol concentration is high and the operation state temperature is low, the generation of intermediate products, which are alcohol oxides contained in unburned alcohol mixed fuel, is promoted, and the intermediate products generated are trapped in an intake passage by opening an intake valve in the expansion stroke of the internal combustion engine.

    摘要: A method of operating an internal combustion engine uses fuels having different reactivities obtained from the same fuel source. A first fuel having a first reactivity is stored in a fuel reservoir. A portion of the first fuel is converted to a second fuel having a second reactivity. The first fuel is introduced into a combustion chamber having a piston moving in a cylinder at a first time when the piston is relatively closer to a bottom dead center (BDC) position and the second fuel is introduced into the combustion chamber at a second time when the piston is relatively further from the BDC position. In an aspect, the convertor may be adjustable to alter the reactivity of the second fuel. In an aspect, the convertor may use a processing fluid associated with the engine to convert the first fuel to the second fuel.

    摘要: A programmable internal combustion engine, comprising programmable computer processor controlled engine components including electronically controllable valves, fuel injection and air fuel mixture ignition cylinder components, is programmed to dynamically reconfigure an internal combustion engine to run on a range of combustible fuels. Cylinder independent ignition test modes using Spark Ignition, Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition and Compression Ignition are performed to determine the best ignition mode and cylinder component states for combusting a given fuel. In situ real-time testing of a given fuel yield results for a dynamic reconfiguration of individual component states providing an engine which can run on a range of combustible fuels and fuel blends.

    摘要: A method is provided for determining fuel blend in a dual fuel mixture including a first and a second fuel in an internal combustion engine. The method includes the steps of measuring multiple engine parameters using sensors during transient cycle operation for a predetermined range of engine loads and fuel blends; using system identification of transient time series of the measurements to determine one or more relevant engine parameters; determining a model for estimation of the fuel blend based on said one or more engine parameters; using the model fur determining a current fuel blend during transient operation using current measured values of the one or more engine parameters, and using the calculated current fuel blend for controlling the amount of dual fuel mixture injected into each cylinder of the internal combustion engine. A vehicle and a computer program product using the method are also provided.

The composition of a fuel having at least a first portion of a first fuel component and a second portion of a second fuel component is predefined. The composition of the mass flow is determined from a first mass flow of the first fuel component and a second mass flow of the second fuel component, which are determined based on a) an introduction parameter in the introduction phase or a discharge parameter in the discharge phase, and b) the first portion of the first fuel component and the second portion of the second fuel component in the fuel.
