摘要:
A fuel conditioning system (10) comprises a housing (12) defining a chamber (14) and provided with an inlet (16) upstream of the chamber (14) and an outlet (18) downstream of the chamber (14). A hemispherical seat (20) is formed in the housing (10) with a first end (22) in communication with the inlet (16), and a second end (24) in communication with the chamber (14). A valve body (26) is received within the seat (20) and is moveable between a closed position and an open position where the valve body is spaced from the inlet (16) to allow air to flow into the chamber (14). A spring (32) biases a valve body at a pressure of approximately one atmosphere toward the closed position. Fuel is sprayed from a plurality of jets (72) formed in the seat and laterally relative to the flow of air past the valve body.

A two-cycle engine 1 is provided and has a cylinder in which is formed a combustion chamber that is delimited by a piston which, via a connecting rod, drives a crankshaft rotatably mounted in a crankcase. The engine has an air duct that communicates with a transfer channel, and a mixture channel via which fuel/air mixture is drawn into the crankcase. At least a portion of the length of the mixture channel is separated from the air duct by a dividing wall that extends in a direction of flow of the air. The dividing wall separates the channels from one another in such a way that the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the mixture channel to the cross-sectional area of the air duct is approximately in the range of 0.5 to 1.9.

Improved fuel preparation for an internal combustion engine wherein a concave, upstream-facing dispersion surface terminates in a sharp downstream edge with an undercut immediately downstream of the edge and liquid fuel is sprayed under pressure through orifices onto the dispersion surface and allowed to spread out and be sheared by the induction air from the dispersion surface at the sharp edge thereof.

A carburetor for an internal combustion engine having means to regulate the air flow in response to ambient air temperature and pressure. The carburetor includes a member protrudable into the main venturi portion to reduce progressively the effective area thereof as temperatures or altitudes decrease, and conversely. The carburetor includes a bypass passage having valve means that permits the addition of supplementary air to the idle system at high temperatures or altitudes and reduces progressively the quantity of added air as the altitude or temperature decreases.
