    摘要: Disclosed is a two cylinder water well pumping system which uses the wind as a primary driving force with an alternate electric motor drive for use when the wind force is not adequate. The wind drives a square wheel turbine which in turn drives a swash plate which provides a cam surface which then drives a semaphore assembly directly or indirectly connected to sucker cables in turn connected to two pistons carried, respectively, in two cylinder sleeves. The inclined angle of the swash plate alternately drives the pistons to pump water from a well into a storage tank also serving as a mainmast supporting said turbine. In an alterenative embodiment, an electric motor is connected to drive an osillatable bar on a mechancial relay. The oscillatable bar is connected by cables to the semaphore assembly, and may be disconnected from the semaphore assembly by a solenoid. In this embodiment, the sucker cables are connected to the rockable bar in the mechanical relay rather than to the semaphore assembly.

    摘要: Normally feathered propeller blades of a wind power generating system unfeather in response to the actuation of a power cylinder that responds to actuating signals. Once operational, the propellers generate power over a large range of wind velocities. A maximum power generation design point signals a feather response of the propellers so that once the design point is reached no increase in power results, but the system still generates power. At wind speeds below this maximum point, propeller speed and power output optimize to preset values. The propellers drive a positive displacement pump that in turn drives a positive displacement motor of the swash plate type. The displacement of the motor varies depending on the load on the system, with increasing displacement resulting in increasing propeller speeds, and the converse. In the event of dangerous but not clandestine problems developing in the system, a control circuit dumps hydraulic pressure from the unfeathering cylinder resulting in a predetermined, lower operating pressure produced by the pump. In the event that a problem of potentially clandestine consequence arises, the propeller unfeathering cylinder immediately unloads. Upon startup, a bypass around the motor is blocked, applying a pressure across the motor. The motor drives the generator until the generator reaches a predetermined speed whereupon the generator is placed in circuit with a utility grid and permitted to motor up to synchronous speed.

    摘要: A windmill in which a propeller is directly fixed to the shaft of a rotary hydraulic pump mounted on a cylinder casing rotatably mounted about a vertical axis to the top of a tower. A piston in the cylinder is recicprocated by the hydraulic fluid expelled by the pump to power a reciprocal pump at the base of the tower to which the piston is attached by a lift rod. The piston is fitted with a valve which permits the piston and attached lift rod to freely move on the downstroke through the fluid in the cylinder, with the valve closed during the upstroke of the piston to permit the pressurized fluid below the piston to raise the piston and lift rod.

    摘要: A system for recovering the energy from atmospheric wind wherein a windmill operates a compressor for compressing air which is stored in one or more tanks. The compressed air is used to drive a prime mover coupled by gear means to an electrical generator or other work-producing apparatus. The prime mover is operated by hydraulic fluid responsive to the application of the compressed air to fluid tanks by valve means responsive to the operation of the prime mover. The compressor has a unique means for lubricating the same. Alternatively, the prime mover can be operated by conventional water pressure during periods of little or no wind.

    摘要: A wind power converter comprising: a pair of rotatable turbines with elongated curved blades disposed within a rotatable housing on axially parallel shafts, the curvature of the blades of one turbine being opposite to the curvature of the blades of the second turbine so that wind passing between said turbines will rotate the turbines in opposite directions; the housing comprising shaft-supporting sections at the ends of the turbines, lateral sections connecting the end sections, a pair of wind deflectors disposed between the end sections and extending from adjacent edges of the lateral sections toward the midpoint between the turbines and terminating approximately the same distance from each other as the distance between the turbine shafts, and a pivotally mounted vertically disposed vane extending from a portion of the housing opposite to the wind deflectors; said rotatable housing being supported on a vertically disposed central shaft and on a plurality of beams radiating therefrom with the free end of each beam having at least one pair of flanged wheels engaging a peripheral annular track with one wheel of each pair in contact with the top of the track and the other wheel of each pair in contact with the bottom of the track; means for synchronizing the rotation of the turbines; and fluid pumping means operatively connected to the turbine shafts.
