    Abstract: A power split continuously variable transmission (CVT) technology in which efficiency improvements are obtained by elimination of gear meshing at the 1:1 ratio point. A family of power split transmissions are defined using variable displacement hydraulic devices as the variator and employing rotary couplings as speed summers. Input coupled, output coupled and compound coupled systems are described along with impact of and avoidance of power circulation (aka recirculation). Multiple and bidirectional mechanical channel inputs to the speed summer and clutching mechanisms are described enabling transmissions to reach forward gear ratio ranges with a speed of up to 23× with workable efficiencies throughout which can result in improvement in overall efficiency such as in ICE powertrains as well as permitting CVT function in heavy-duty EV powertrains during acceleration or high-grade conditions where otherwise extremely high torque and sustained low speed operations may induce highly inefficient or drive motor overheat conditions.

    Abstract: Ball screw rotary actuator with ball cage. In one embodiment, a ball screw rotary actuator includes an outer cylinder, a piston, and inner shaft. Outer ball bearings travel in helical groove between the outer cylinder and position to rotate the piston as it translates due to fluid pressure. The inner shaft is situated radially inward of the piston, and straight grooves are disposed between the piston and the inner shaft. Inner ball bearings travel in the straight grooves and rotate the inner shaft as the piston rotates. The ball screw rotary actuator also includes an outer ball cage to position the outer ball bearings in a spaced configuration, an outer indexing gear to control a position of the outer ball cage, an inner ball cage to position the inner ball bearings in a spaced configuration, and an inner indexing gear to control a position of the inner ball cage.

    Abstract: A stepless speed variation transmission drive unit, in particular for industrial, agricultural or railway machinery, comprises at least a first input pinion (10), at least a first hydraulic motor (12) connected to said first input pinion (10), an output shaft (30), and at least a second hydraulic motor (22, 23). The first hydraulic motor (12) is connectable and disconnectable to/from said output shaft (30) by means of a clutch (50), while the second hydraulic motor (22, 23) is adapted to transmit the movement directly to the output shaft (30). The transmission drive unit further comprises a brake device (70) adapted to block the rotation of the first hydraulic motor (12) when said first hydraulic motor (12) is disconnected from the output shaft (30).

    Abstract: A drive assembly is disclosed, with a hydraulic center section for a rotating kit disposed in a housing. A spring is disposed between the center section and an internal surface of the housing. The center section may include a main body having first and second running surfaces and at least one side wall, and internal porting formed in the main body to connect the first running surface with the second running surface. A pair of passages in communication with the internal porting may be formed in a structure having an external surface forming an alignment profile shaped to fit in a first internal housing pocket. A protrusion shaped to fit in second internal housing pocket extends from a side wall of the main body generally opposite to the structure, and the spring may engage the protrusion.
