摘要： A ball valve is provided. The ball valve includes at least one load varying mechanism provided in the static body assembly. The load varying mechanism includes a biasing member pressing one of the ball seat seals against the outer surface of the ball of the ball valve with a variable sealing load force applied on the ball, toward the ball and coaxial with the direction of the fluid. The load varying mechanism also includes a movable member operatively connected to a cam and to the biasing member, a rotation of the cam translating the movable member coaxially to the direction of the fluid, in order to variably load the biasing member toward or away from the ball, based on the different positions of the ball.

摘要： A top entry ball valve comprises a housing with a central cavity communicating with two bores which define a flow path through the housing. A ball valve element is provided and comprises a through bore. The ball valve element is rotatably mounted within the central cavity for rotation about an axis for selectively aligning the through bore with the housing bores. The ball valve element further comprises first and second flat surfaces on opposite sides of the ball valve element. The flat surfaces are perpendicular to the axis. The top entry ball valve further comprises first and second seats which are configured to provide a seal between the ball valve element and the central cavity. First and second protective rings are provided for receiving and supporting at least a portion of the first and second seats.

A replaceable cartridge assembly is seated in the chamber and includes a generally spherical ball having a flow passage therethrough alignable with the inlet and outlet passages, an inlet valve seat, and an outlet valve seat. A cartridge body member extends about and couples the ball and the valve seats. A resiliently deflectable biasing member biases the inlet valve seat and the ball against the outlet seat. A resiliently deflectable biasing member acts upon the inlet end of the cartridge body and a deflector is movable between a first position in which the biasing member is substantially free from deflection and a second position in which the biasing member is deflected to bias the cartridge body and the outlet valve seat against the wall of the valve body chamber to effect a seat-to-body seal.

The single piece packing is installed over the valve element at room temperature or may be molded thereon. The valve element may include a flow control element such as a ball and upper and lower trunnions. The various dimensions of the valve element and packing are selected to facilitate room temperature assembly and to substantially reduce the volume of packing material, thereby improving the performance of the valve over wider temperature ranges and pressure ratings.

The cartridge contains a wedge having curved surfaces and a driver to rotate the wedge from an open to a closed position.
