A required number of heat transfer tube group panel modules (20) are produced in an appropriate size according to design specifications of HRSG, where the heat transfer tube group panel modules (20) each have a large number of heat transfer tubes (6), heat transfer tube group panels (23) constituted of upper and lower collection tubes (7, 8) for the heat transfer tubes (6), a casing (1) for the heat transfer tube group panels (23), heat transfer tube group panel supporting beams (22) provided outside a ceiling wall portion of the casing (1), and a vertical and horizontal module frames (24, 25) provided outside the casing (1). Main frames for supporting the modules (20), including main pillars (33), main beams (34), and bottom wall portion pillars (36), are constructed in advance in a construction site of the heat recovery boiler (HRSG). Each module (20) is transported to the construction site and lowered by a crane (42) into between adjacent main pillars (33). Supporting beams (22) of each module (20) are placed at the height of installation of the main beam (34). Then the horizontal module frames (25), the main beams (34), and the bottom wall portion pillars (36) are connected and fixed, and the vertical module frames (24) and the main pillars (33) are connected and fixed.

During the assembly of a steam generator, the boiler columns are assembled, and, in parallel, headers and other wall boxes are assembled on booms of the boiler columns, so that when the boiler columns are completed, the headers and wall boxes are also finally assembled. Next, the peripheral roof section is assembled onto the boiler columns, and the vertical steam generator-containing walls are suspended from the peripheral roof section. Parallel to this, the inner roof section is constructed and the convection heating surfaces are successively mounted to the inner roof section and lifted upward from the base. The assembled inner roof section and convection heating surfaces are then lifted to the height of the peripheral roof section, and the two parts of the roof are connected. Finally, the furnace walls having a vertical or inclined tube arrangement, including the furnace hopper, are assembled.

A new and improved heat recovery steam generating apparatus for extracting heat from a hot gas stream, comprises a vertically extending tube bank having upper and lower headers at opposite ends. Two pairs of external, gravity force, support columns are spaced upstream and downstream of the tube bank and a top support structure is mounted at the upper end of the columns for supporting the tube bank in downwardly hanging relation from the upper header. A pair of permanent internal trusses are supportively connected at the upper end to the columns and each truss has opposite edges slidably supported from a pair of columns for accommodating expansion and contraction of the tubes and for transferring and resisting lateral and shear loads, which loads are eventually transferred to a bottom structure at the lower end of the columns. Tube spacing elements are provided at several different levels at oppositely spaced apart intervals and the sheets are supported on side members extending between the trusses for maintaining alignment of the tubes and for transferring lateral loads to the trusses. The trusses are useful in preventing damage and distortion of the tube bank during transport and erection, and then become a permanent part of the HRSG structure when erection is completed.

A steam generator configuration, in particular of a low temperature carbonization-combustion plant, includes a supporting structure. A flue gas channel is disposed in the supporting structure and has a first vertical segment, a second at least approximately horizontal segment, and a third vertical segment being connected through the second segment to the first segment to form a structural unit. Supporting members suspend the first segment in the supporting structure in order to avoid restrictions to expansion and deformation of the flue gas channel as a result of thermal expansion. The supporting members are in an oblique or slanted position relative to the vertical in a cold condition. The oblique position essentially corresponds to a thermal expansion of the second horizontal segment in a hot condition. The supporting elements are parallel to the vertical in the hot condition. Thus, regardless of the operating state, the flue gas channel remains a structural unit that allows free thermal expansion in the vertical and horizontal directions.
