摘要： A propellant-charge pack has an annular envelope having an outer wall extending along and centered on an axis, a pair of axially spaced end walls extending transversely inward from the axis and having inner peripheries centered on the axis, and an inner wall defining a clear axially throughgoing passage between the inner peripheries of the end walls. The envelope is generally axially symmetrical about the axis, that is it is formed as a body of revolution or of regular polygonal section, and is substantially symmetrical to a plane perpendicular to the axis midway between the end walls. A relatively easily ignited primer charge forms a part of the inner wall symmetrical of the plane and a propellant charge fills the envelope between the walls outward of the inner wall. The primer charge is of such high combustibility, compared to the diameter of the passage, that the entire primer charge, even of a stack of such packs, will be ignited before they burn through and set off the respective propellant charges.

摘要： A firearm is disclosed for firing caseless ammunition. The firearm fires projectiles by ignition of a separate propellant cartridge disposed therebehind, the projectile carrying a primer charge for igniting the propellant cartridge. The firearm comprises a body including a receiver, a barrel connected to the receiver, and a firing chamber communicating with a bore of the barrel. A mechanism is provided for feeding a projectile and a propellant cartridge therebehind into the receiver. A bolt is slidably mounted in the body and includes laterally open pockets for receiving the fed projectile and cartridge and for advancing them to an armed position within the firing chamber. A portion of the bolt is arranged to ignite the primer charge when the projectile reaches the armed position. The primer charge is disposed within a metal casing, the latter being mounted by friction fit within a recess of the projectile. A sleeve formed of anti-friction material surrounds the primer casing to facilitate insertion of the primer casing into the recess. The primer casing may contain a slower burning tracer material disposed ahead of the primer charge and to be ignited thereby.

摘要： An artillery charge includes a generally cylindrical body with a hollow core; propellant disposed in the body and first energetic material disposed in the hollow core; and a seal disposed over one end of the hollow core, the seal including second energetic material disposed therein. A laser igniter ignites the second energetic material in the seal, thereby providing more reliable ignition of the first energetic material and the propellant. The artillery charge reliably ignites using a lower powered laser than known charges.

摘要： The invention concerns a percussion primer for ammunition without case or ammunition with combustible case of the type comprising a sensitive composition 6 placed against an anvil 7.The anvil is developed in a combustible block 4 provided with a vent 5 arranged at a conical end of the combustible block 4 and coaxial with a firing pin 3 with flat end firmly connected with the weapon; the anvil is formed of the sharp edge of the conical end of the block defining the vent and fits the shape of the cross section of the firing pin, in order to permit the shearing of the sensitive composition.The primer in accordance with the invention is of great selectivity and is practically insensitive to accidental percussion.
