One or more image acquisition systems are adapted to produce a series of overlapping images of a gas bearing supported spherical inertial sensor assembly. A controller coupled to receive the series of overlapping images applies a delta detection algorithm to the series of overlapping images to determine the distance, the direction of movement of the inertial sensor assembly and the resulting relative position of the gas bearing supported spherical inertial sensor assembly. The controller further calculates the rotational velocity of the inertial sensor assembly based on a time sequence between the received series of image signals and the distance moved.

    摘要: A two-axis rate gyro has two articulation elements arranged sequentially. The first articulation element is connected with a drive shaft of the rate gyro and the second articulation element is connected with a gyro rotor. The two articulation elements are connected together by two narrow ribs located laterally with respect to a central bore and perpendicularly or radially with respect to the central axis of the articulation elements. Spring elements are provided in one of the articulation elements which act on pretensioned force-measuring elements and are tensioned with respect to one another. The spring elements deform elastically and symmetrically around the ribs under the influence of a sinusoidally alternating torque, so that the force-measuring elements are loaded and unloaded alternately and generate measurement signals proportional to the forces acting on them.

    摘要: A synchronous demodulator is configured so as to extract gyroscope positionnformation in a polar coordinate format and then resolve it into position information in a more useful cartesian coordinate format. The technique involves integration of a gyroscope cage coil signal over integration intervals controlled by spin reference signals rather than by the commonly noisy cage coil signal. Integration of the cage coil signal over intervals controlled by the spin reference signals yields outputs of .lambda. cos .theta. and .lambda. sin .theta. which are subsequently sampled and held and then summed to produce a precession coil drive signal whose phase is in the proper relationship to make the gyroscope precess in the correct direction.

    摘要: A turning indicator for indicating the turning direction and the turning speed of course changes of a ship or an aircraft, in which an electromotor is movably mounted between two supports of a carrier. An axle of the carrier is fixedly connected with the upper end of a leaf spring, the lower end of which is loosely guided. A measuring bridge is mounted on the leaf spring which is connected to an indicating device via an amplifier circuit. The measuring bridge can be supplied with direct current and the starting signal of the measuring bridge is also in the form of direct current which is positive or negative depending on the direction of deflection of the leaf spring, and thus indicates a measure of the turning direction, whereas the magnitude of the deflection of the leaf spring is a measure of the intensity of the starting signal and thus a measure of the turning speed.

Three pickoffs are arranged diametrically opposite the corresponding torquers beneath the rotor.     摘要: In a digital strapped down inertial reference system, a plurality of strapped down, force-rebalanced rate sensors is used to sense aircraft body rates, wherein each gyroscope pick-off signal is fed back to a gyro torquer in a manner to maintain the pick-off signal essentially nulled, the torquer currents thus being proportional to sensed aircraft rates. A precision digital count proportional to the effective current supplied to the torquer is achieved by using a high frequency clock to quantize a lower frequency square wave which has been pulse width modulated in accordance with the gyro pick-off signal and by means for enabling a digital counter synchronously with the state of that square wave. The same high frequency clock signal is used to derive the counter's clock frequency, the counter output being the digital equivalent of the analog square wave which corresponds to the currents supplied to the gyro torquer. Precision currents for supply to the gyro torquer in accordance with the pulse width modulated square wave are achieved by using guard bands which account for the rise and fall times of such currents and the precision turn on and turn off characteristics of VMOS transistor power switches. An automatic rate range switching and control system controlled from the precision digital count adapts the full range cabaility of the gyroscopic rate sensor to a range consistent with the precision range of the analog-to-digital conversion apparatus.

    摘要: An azimuth directional synchro output is provided for a gyroscopic compass, the compass consisting of a pendulous gyrosphere floating within a spherical cavity containing an electrically conductive fluid. By forming one electrode that carries power through the fluid to spin the gyroscope rotor as a band of sinusoidally varying width, four cooperating electrodes equally spaced about the instrument case supply azimuth position data to excite a selsyn data transmitter system. The currents collected by the four cooperating electrodes are proportional to the varying resistances of the respective fluid paths. They generate a vector field within the selsyn system which establishes outputs representing true azimuth bearing within the three selsyn output leads.
