摘要: THIS INVENTION IS FOR A RECORDER WHICH INDICATES FOR A RELATIVELY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME A PHYSICAL STATE SUCH AS ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE, TEMPERATURE, AND RELATIVE HUMIDIGY. THERE IS MOVING EXTERIOR SURFACE HAVING OUTWARDLY DIRECTED PROTRUSIONS OR GUIDES TO POSITION A FLEXIBLE STRAND. THIS FLEXIBLE STRANT IS THE INDICATOR FOR THE TEMPERATURE, THE ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE AND THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY. RELATIVE MOTION BETWEEN THE EXTERIOR SURFACE AND THE STRAND IS PREVENTED BY THESE PROTRUSIONS OR GUIDES. THIS RELATIVE MOTION IS PREVENTED IN DIRECTIONS NORMAL TO THE STRAND, WHEREAS MOTION IS PREVENTED IN BETWEEN THE EXTERIOR SURFACE AND THE STRAND IN THE DIRECTION ALONG THE STRAND AT EVERY POINT OF CONTACT OF THE SURFACE AND THE STRAND. THE RECORDER IS SELF-ERASING SO THAT AN OBSERVER DOES NOT HAVE TO REPLENISH INK, RECORDING PAPER AND THE LIKE. FOR RELATIVELY SHORT PERIODS OF TIME, SAY TWELVE TO TWENTY-FOUR HOURS, IT IS POSSIBLE TO NOTE THE VARIATION IN THE PHYSICAL STATE UNDERGOING MEASUREMENT AND RECORDING.
THE SELF-ERASING FEATURE IS ACHIEVED BY THE STRAND AND THE EXTERIOR SURFACE SEPARATING FROM EACH OTHER AFTER A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME AND A CERTAIN RELATIVE MOVEMENT BETWEEN THE EXTERIOR SURFACE AND THE STRAND.-

摘要: A multistylus recorder uses a recording head having a plurality of side-by-side styli extending across the width of a recording medium which is driven at right angles to the recording head. The recording styli are individually energized to provide a recording on the recording medium using a digital control system for storing addresses of the recording styli to be energized whereby the recording styli are energized from the lowest to highest stored addresses. The recording system uses a minimum to maximum, min-max, accumulator to configure the digital data obtained from an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter representative of an input signal applied to the A/D converter into a format suitable for energizing the multistylus recording head, i.e., the min-max accumulator accepts and stores the digitized values obtained by sampling an input signal by the A/D converter and a sample and hold circuit to obtain a plurality of samples between recording operations to produce a plurality of outputs for energizing each of the plurality of recording styli. The min-max accumulator stores all of the digitized samples of the input data, selects the minimum and maximum digitized values of the input sample, produces stylus addresses for those values and energizes all of the styli between and including the lowest and highest stylus address received since the preceding recording cycle.

摘要: A temperature recorder which produces a continuous graphic record, scribed on a removable tape, of the temperature existing in an enclosure (such as a refrigerated railroad car) during a given period of time (e.g., the transit time of such a railroad car). The present temperature recorder--which is a modification, in disposable form, of the recorder for like purpose shown in U.S. Pat. No. 3,826,140, dated July 30, 1974-- comprises, in a sealed case, a slow travelling tape which spans between a tape feed spool an a spring-driven tape take-up spool; there being a temperature-responsive device which scribes--in terms of temperature in relation to time--on the tape as it so travels, and means to regulate the speed of travel of said tape.
