    摘要: A method of measuring the temperature of a sheet material in which the sheet material is arranged such that it forms at least one side of a cavity so as to enhance the effective emissivity of the sheet material in the vicinity of the cavity. The method involves a) generating a thermal image of at least part of the inside of the cavity using a thermal imaging device to detect radiation emitted by the cavity, the thermal image comprising a plurality of pixels each having a pixel value representative of radiation emitted by a respective region of the cavity; b) identifying a first subset of the plurality of pixels whose pixel values meet predetermined criteria; c) using the identified first subset of pixels to determine a line on the thermal image representative of optimal emissivity enhancement in the cavity; and d) selecting a second subset of the plurality of pixels based on the determined line and generating a temperature profile along the determined line derived from the pixel values associated with each of the second subset of pixels.

    摘要: In a cold rolling mill an infra-red detector is situated a distance from the metal strip and, with respect to the direction of strip throughput, behind the roll gap formed between two work rolls. The detector determines local temperature differences linearly over the whole width of the strip and converts the infra-red radiation into electric signals to actuate means for regulating the roll gap.The metal strip in particular a thin strip on foil, emerging from the roll gap is deflected by at least one contact roll that serves as a tension roll and has low back-reflection capacity and high capacity for emission of infra-red radiation, then deflected by deflection roll/rolls without slipping, and the infra-red radiation from the contact roll/rolls registered along a mantle line and converted into control signals to actuate means for regulating the roll gap.At least the outer mantle of the contact roll/rolls is comprised of a material that can be ground, reflects little and has an infra-red emission capacity of at least 0.7 with reference to the infra-red emission capacity of a black body.

    摘要: Devices and corresponding methods can be provided to monitor or measure temperature of a target or to control a process. Targets can have low, unknown, or variable emissivity. Devices and corresponding methods can be used to measure temperatures of thin film, partially transparent, or opaque targets, as well as targets not filling a sensor's field of view. Temperature measurements can be made independent of emissivity of a target surface by, for example, inserting a target between a thermopile sensor and a background surface maintained at substantially the same temperature as the thermopile sensor. In embodiment devices and methods, a sensor temperature can be controlled to match a target temperature by minimizing or zeroing a net heat flux at the sensor, as derived from a sensor output signal. Alternatively, a target temperature can be controlled to minimize the heat flux.

    摘要: A temperature monitoring system includes a linear array of six pyroelectric sensors mounted in a block. A through hole is provided in the block for each sensor. A bore in the block having an axis which intersects the axis of each through hole accommodates a rotary shaft. The shaft is provided with a diametrically extending bore for each through hole. Thus rotation of the shaft alternately exposes each sensor to the shaft itself and to an object in the line of sight of each sensor as defined by its corresponding throughhole. The output signal from each sensor is differentiated and used to provide a temperature measurement. The output signal is corrected for any drift in the temperature of the shaft or block. This is effected by periodically bringing a heated calibration head operating at a known temperature into the line of sight of each sensor.

    摘要: A radiant-energy temperature measuring apparatus of a scanning type having a linear array of light-sensitive elements which generate photoelectric signals corresponding to respective amounts of radiant energy produced at different points of an object and vicinities thereof on a straight line corresponding to the above linear array, and further having a device for determining a temperature of the object at desired one of its different points, based on the photoelectric signal generated by one of the light-sensitive elements which optically matches the desired one point of the object. The apparatus includes an edge detector for detecting an edge of the object, based on the photoelectric signals generated by the light-sensitive elements, and a selector for selecting the desired one point of the object, by designating a number of the light-sensitive elements as counted from the element corresponding to the detected edge of the object, to the element which corresponds to the above-indicated desired one point. The selector applies to the temperature determining device the photoelectric signal from the light-sensitive element corresponding to the selected point.
