    摘要: An apparatus for measuring linear velocity of a movable element relative to a stationary element includes a magnetic element fixed in relation to the stationary element. A soft-magnetic yoke is fixed in relation to the movable element to move with the movable element and is in non-contact relation with the magnetic element. A yoke pole is positioned proximate to the magnetic element and spaced therefrom by an air gap. The pole is magnetically coupled to the magnetic element so that a magnetic flux is generated in the air gap substantially orthogonal to the axis of motion. A conductive coil is coiled around a coil axis and is fixed in relation to the stationary element with the coil axis substantially parallel to the axis of movement. The coil is in non-contact relation with the yoke and resides between the magnetic element and the pole of the yoke in the magnetic flux.

    摘要: A differential variable reluctance transducer (DVRT) is provided to measure a translation parameter, such as acceleration and/or deceleration of a test projectile. The DVRT, contained in a canister of the projectile, includes a cylindrical housing and an electronics module. The housing defines a cavity containing insulation and a bobbin around which a wire coil is wrapped. The housing has an attachment end and a distal end that faces the acceleration indicator. The bobbin is disposed substantially collinear to the housing. The wire coil is helically disposed around the bobbin. The insulation fills the remainder of the cavity. The electronics module receives electric current from the wire coil and connects to a data recorder.

    摘要: An apparatus for measuring linear velocity of a movable element relative to a stationary element includes a magnetic element fixed in relation to the stationary element. A soft-magnetic yoke is fixed in relation to the movable element to move with the movable element and is in non-contact relation with the magnetic element. A yoke pole is positioned proximate to the magnetic element and spaced therefrom by an air gap. The pole is magnetically coupled to the magnetic element so that a magnetic flux is generated in the air gap substantially orthogonal to the axis of motion.     摘要: The invention comprises a velocity sensor (10, 30, 50, 60, 70, 110) that measures velocity in only one degree of freedom and is insensitive to the other five degrees of freedom. The velocity sensor uses differential flux splitting, and by sensing changes in flux, common mode effects are removed. In practicing the invention, a permanent magnet (17, 33, 55, 65, 71, 131) is used to create a flux field, and multiple return paths are used to split the flux. A plurality of pole pieces (20-21, 39-40, 58-59, 66-67, 72-73, 111-112) simultaneously move an equal amount in relation to the return paths for differentially varying the amount of flux carried by each return path (13-14, 34-36, 52-53, 63-64, 73A-C and 75A-C, 115-117), to thereby induce a differential voltage in secondary coils (15-16, 37-38, 56-57, 68-69, 80-83 and 90-93, 140-143 and 150-153). Detection means (not shown) is used to sense the change in voltage and provide an indication of the sensed velocity. The pole pieces and return paths are overlapped by an amount to ensure that one may move relative to the other a limited extent in directions not parallel to the sensitive axis without effecting a change in the net overlapped area, and the coils are arranged in series-connected, oppositely wound pairs so that common mode error signals are cancelled.

    摘要: A motor speed control system is disclosed as adapted for the traveling speed control of a transducer on a pivotal support beam driven by a voice coil motor in a rotating disk data storage apparatus. The speed control system includes a speed sensor having a speed sensing coil for electromagnetically generating a motor speed signal representative of the actual traveling speed of the transducer. Since the speed sensing coil is of necessity disposed adjacent the drive coil of the voice coil motor, the motor speed signal contains a noise component due to the mutual induction between the two coils. For the elimination of the noise component from the motor speed signal, which is to be utilized for the feedback speed control of the voice coil motor, a differentiator circuit is provided for deriving a noise suppression signal, which is equivalent to the noise component, from a motor speed control signal representative of the desired traveling speed of the transducer. Both the motor speed signal and the noise suppression signal are directed to a differential amplifier whereby a is noise-free motor speed signal is obtained. A second differential amplifier inputs both this noise-free Motor speed signal and the motor speed control signal for providing an output proportional to the difference therebetween. This output is supplied to a motor driver circuit for driving the voice coil motor accordingly.

In other embodiments, the invention also provides apparatus for defining a horizontal reference plane in the atmosphere and apparatus for sensing the roll or pitch rate of an airborne vehicle.

    摘要: This is an apparatus for monitoring the movement of a moveable member which moves from an initial position to a second position at varying speeds. A timer is actuated when the member moves from its initial position. A component in an electrical circuit connected to the member produces an electrical signal proportional to the instantaneous position of the member. An electrical indication which is responsive to the signal produces a final indication at the end of a predetermined time period which is a function of the speeds of the member. A low alarm is actuated or a high alarm is actuated if the distance of the moveable member from the initial position at the end of the predetermined time period is less or more respectively than desired.
