    摘要: A method of manufacturing an aerial micromodule cable with excess length of an optical core is disclosed, the cable comprising a cable jacket defining a cavity in which the optical core is arranged, said cable having two rigid strength members embedded in the wall of the jacket; the method comprising guiding the cable over a wheel; wherein a first plane (P1) intersecting the centre of gravity (C1) of the cable cavity is parallel to a second plane (P2) intersecting the two rigid strength members, said first and second planes (P1, P2) being offset from each other, and wherein, during said guiding, the two rigid strength members are positioned closer to the wheel than the first plane (P1) so as to cause the optical core to have a core excess length of at least 0.05%.

    摘要: Teachings of the present disclosure relate to a pulling sleeve for pulling a cable through a conduit. The pulling sleeve is mounted over fibers of a fiber optic cable and a plurality of fiber optic connectors associated with the fibers. The pulling sleeve includes an elongated body formed of two mating pieces to include an interior cavity to receive and house the fibers. The two mating pieces may include half-pieces. The elongated body of the pulling sleeve includes a length that extends along a central axis between first and second ends, where the first end of the elongated body includes a pulling eye. Also, the elongated body of the pulling sleeve defines a plurality of axially spaced-apart circumferential notches for enhancing flexibility along its length. The axially spaced-apart circumferential notches enable the elongated body of the pulling sleeve to conform to a curved conduit path.

    摘要: A passive optical network includes a central office providing subscriber signals; a fiber distribution hub including an optical power splitter and a termination field; and a drop terminal. Distribution fibers have first ends coupled to output ports of a drop terminal and second ends coupled to the termination field. A remote unit of a DAS is retrofitted to the network by routing a second feeder cable from a base station to the hub and coupling one the distribution fibers to the second feeder cable. The remote unit is plugged into the corresponding drop terminal port, for example, with a cable arrangement having a sealed wave division multiplexer.

    摘要: A fiber optic cable includes a messenger section having at least one strength member, a carrier section having at least one optical fiber therein, and a common jacket that forms a common jacket. In one embodiment, the carrier jacket has a preferential tear portion adjacent to the at least one optical fiber with a substantially continuous outer surface in the carrier jacket adjacent to the preferential tear portion. The preferential tear portion may be defined by at least one of: at least one internal void, at least one weld line, and at least one wing extending from a tape disposed about the one or more optical fibers. Various alternatives are possible. For example, the carrier jacket may also or alternatively include at least one gripping area extending for enhancing the gripping of the carrier section when pulling apart the carrier section and messenger section.
