Abstract: A system for and method of projecting augmentation imagery in a head-mounted display is disclosed. A system for projecting light onto an eye includes a display to project light, a beam combiner, first and second optical systems between the display and the beam combiner along respective first and second optical paths. The first and second optical paths differ. The system also includes a switchable reflector that, in a reflective state, reflects light incident upon the reflector, and, in a non-reflective state, transmits light incident upon the reflector. The reflector is between the display and the first and second optical systems along the first and second optical paths and directs light along the first path, in the reflective state, or along the second path, in the non-reflective state, to reflect light from the beam combiner to the eye from different directions when in the different states.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a display device including a display panel, an optical layer, and a cover layer. The display panel has a substrate with two opposite first edges. The optical layer is disposed on the display panel, and the optical layer has two opposite second edges corresponding to the two opposite first edges respectively. The cover layer is disposed on the optical layer. One of the two opposite first edges and one of the two opposite second edges corresponding to the one of the two opposite first edges are not aligned.

Abstract: The display apparatus includes a data generation circuit, a source driver circuit, and a pixel. The source driver circuit is electrically connected to the pixel through first and second wirings. The pixel includes a display device that is a liquid crystal device, a potential of one electrode of the display device can be a potential of the first wiring, and a potential of the other electrode of the display device can be a potential of the second wiring. The image data generation circuit has a function of generating digital image data including first and second data. One of the first and second wirings is made to have a potential corresponding to first data, and the other of the first and second wirings is made to have a potential corresponding to the second data. The potential of the first wiring and the potential of the second wiring are interchanged.

Abstract: A liquid crystal element (100) refracts and outputs light. The liquid crystal element (100) includes a first electrode (1), a second electrode (2), an insulating layer (21) that is an electric insulator, a resistance layer (22), a liquid crystal layer (23) including liquid crystal, and a third electrode (3). The insulating layer (21) is disposed between each location of the first and second electrodes (1) and (2) and the resistance layer (22) to insulate the first and second electrodes (1) and (2) from the resistance layer (22). The resistance layer (22) has an electrical resistivity higher than that of the first electrode (1) and lower than that of the insulating layer (21). The resistance layer (22) and the liquid crystal layer (23) are disposed between the insulating layer (21) and the third electrode (3). The resistance layer (22) is disposed between the insulating layer (21) and the liquid crystal layer (23). The insulating layer (21) has a thickness (ts) smaller than a thickness (th) of the resistance layer (22).

Abstract: Provided is a display device which makes less flicker perceived in transition from a pause period to a drive period by suppressing image luminance from changing.Regardless of whether the number of pause frames in an immediately preceding pause period is high, or whether there is an image change immediately after a transition from the pause period to a drive period, high-speed scans are performed from Operating Frame One through Operating Frame Three, and BC drive is performed during Operating Frames One and Two. As a result, image luminance change immediately after the transition from the pause period to the drive period can be suppressed in a short period of time, and therefore, the occurrence of flicker as perceived by the viewer can be suppressed. Moreover, high-speed scans are performed only from Operating Frame One through Operating Frame Three, and therefore, power consumption in a liquid crystal display device 1 can be reduced.

Abstract: A back plate assembly with variable curvatures is disclosed. It comprises a flexible back plate, a connecting component, and an adjustment mechanism, and the adjustment mechanism comprises a connecting shaft disposed on the back plate, and the connecting component connects to the connecting shaft and abuts to the back plate, and the adjustment mechanism adjusts the connecting component on the connecting shaft to modulate clamping force of the back plate received from the connecting component. The back plate assembly can adapt to the backlight units and the display devices with different curvatures based on the requirement of the bend degree. Many kind of the back plate assemblies do not need to be manufactured to fit the backlight unit and the display device having different curvatures.
