[Problem to be Solved]Conventional devices for reproduction of holograms for appreciative viewing do not have any functionality to gate access to special content by exploiting the characteristics of the hologram. Further, a system that allows users to easily perform judgment of authenticity has been much awaited as, with holograms, although a counterfeit prevention effect can be expected visually, counterfeit imitations of the holograms themselves are already in circulation.[Means to Resolve the Problem]It is made possible to read holographic barcodes with such portable information consoles as smartphones to perform judgment of authenticity. In this process, by controlling from the portable information console side the light sources illuminating the hologram, it is possible to add a strong authenticity judgment function without a major increase in cost and also without building any special infrastructure.

The pressure-sensitive light and shadow imaging system is comprised of carrier medium (1), inductive surface (2), photo source (3), photocell (5) and imaging surface (6), wherein the said carrier medium (1) is set on the top of the pressure-sensitive light and shadow imaging system, and the lower end contacts with the inductive surface (2) whose lower end is closely integrated with upper surface of the photocell (5). The imaging surface (6) is set underneath the photocell (5). Texture substance (7) contacts the carrier medium (1), which can form the pressure-sensitive image. The image can reflect the pressure distribution of the substance and compression sequence. With the processing method of footprint image formed by such pressure-sensitive light and shadow imaging system, several single-frame footprint images are processed as a complete footprint image containing all footprint features, which can eliminate background noise.

An electronic device and method receive a block sliced from a rectangular portion of an image of a scene of real world captured by a camera and use a property of the block to operate one of multiple optical character recognition (OCR) decoders. In an illustrative aspect, a first OCR decoder is configured to recognize characters whose property satisfies the test based on a first limit, the first limit being obtained by reducing a predetermined limit by an overlap amount. In this illustrative aspect, a second OCR decoder is configured to recognize characters whose property does not satisfy the test based on a second limit, the second limit being obtained by increasing the predetermined limit by the overlap amount. When the property of the block satisfies the test, the first OCR decoder is operated and alternatively the second OCR decoder is operated, resulting in candidates for a character being identified.

A segmented radial spatial light modulator has an active optic area comprising a plurality of radially extending active optic modulators disposed at various angular orientations with respect to a central axis. The segmented radial spatial light modulator is used in separating and isolating portions of Fourier transform optic patterns from images for characterization of images by shape for recording, storing, retrieving, searching, and comparison to other images for matches and near matches. The images can be ghosted to increase optical power in the Fourier transform optic pattern without adding new shape content and for grading comparisons to other image shape characteristics for identifying near matches in addition to matches.
