Abstract: A display device includes a backlight, a pixel controlling unit, a power driving unit, a source driving unit which transmits, to the pixel controlling unit, intensities of the LEDs connected to the pixel controlling unit, and a timing controlling unit. The pixel controlling unit adjusts, in a first time section, an intensity of a first LED based on a first intensity received from the source driving unit, wherein the first LED is connected to a first line which is activated by the power driving. The pixel controlling unit adjusts, in a second time section different from the first time section, an intensity of a second LED based on a second intensity received from the source driving unit, wherein the second LED is connected to a second line which is activated by the power driving unit.

Abstract: A hybrid display includes pixel clusters and a display controller operable to provide pixel values to the cluster controllers. Each pixel cluster incudes (i) pixels; (ii) a pixel memory for storing fewer than two pixel values for each of the pixels; and (iii) a cluster controller operable to (a) control the pixels to emit light corresponding to the pixel values, (b) receive pixel values, and (c) store the pixel values in the pixel memory. Abstract: This document describes systems and techniques for spatially and temporally dynamic illumination for fingerprint authentication. In aspects, a method is disclosed that involves receiving user input at a display of an electronic device, initiating biometric authentication, and instructing a display-driver integrated circuit (DDIC) to implement a local high-brightness mode, which causes a predetermined portion of the display to increase in luminance to a target luminance for at least a first interval and a second interval. The DDIC is also instructed to cause a variable portion of the display to increase in luminance for the first interval and, at the expiration of the first interval, decrease luminance. During the first and/or second interval, an under-display fingerprint sensor captures one or more images. It is then determined, based on analysis of the one or more images, whether the user input is indicative of an authorized user.
