摘要: A communication device includes a metal mechanism element, a feeding radiation element, a tuning radiation element, and a dielectric substrate. The metal mechanism element has a closed slot. The feeding radiation element extends across the closed slot. The feeding radiation element has a feeding point. The tuning radiation element extends across the closed slot. The first end of the tuning radiation element is coupled to the metal mechanism element. The second end of the tuning radiation element is adjacent to the metal mechanism element or is coupled to the metal mechanism element. The dielectric substrate is adjacent to the metal mechanism element. The feeding radiation element and the tuning radiation element are both disposed on the dielectric substrate. An antenna structure is formed by the feeding radiation element, the tuning radiation element, and the closed slot of the metal mechanism element.

摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed herein for acquiring and tracking a satellite signal with an antenna. In one embodiment, the method comprises a) perturbing one or more of roll, pitch and yaw angles of an antenna orientation to create variant orientations associated with a first search pattern; b) computing new scan and polarization angles, in response to perturbed roll, pitch and yaw angles, for each of the variant orientations; c) receiving a radio-frequency (RF) signal from a satellite for each of the variant orientations; d) generating one or more receiver metrics representing a received RF signal associated with each of the variant orientations; e) selecting, as a new orientation, one of the variant orientations based on the one or more receiver metrics; and f) repeating a)-e) with the new orientation with a second search pattern narrower than the first search pattern.

摘要: A metamaterial device exploiting parity-time symmetry to achieve ideal loss compensation. The metamaterial device includes metamaterials and metasurfaces that are engineered to respect space-time inversion symmetry, i.e., that are invariant after taking their mirror image and running time backwards. One such metamaterial device utilizes two resonators with loss and gain that exactly compensate each other thereby causing the metamaterial device to be invisible when excited from one side of the metamaterial device and reflective when excited from the other side of the metamaterial device. Furthermore, a metamaterial device may include an object covered by a portion of a metasurface with loss and another portion of the metasurface with gain, where the loss and gain exactly compensate each other. The first portion of the metasurface absorbs all of an incident wave, whereas, the second portion of the metasurface re-emits the incident wave.

The radiation portion further comprises a second slit extending from the first slit to the lateral periphery of the circuit board across part of the conductive layer forming the radiation portion, and a frequency adjustment element placed on the second slit.

摘要: An electronic device may be provided with antennas. Antennas for the electronic device may be formed from slot antenna structures. A slot antenna structure may be formed from portions of a metal housing for an electronic device. The slots of the slot antenna structures may be indirectly fed to form first and second indirectly fed slot antennas. The first and second indirectly fed slot antennas may be formed from slots in a rear surface of an electronic device and a sidewall of the electronic device. The slots may have open ends along an edge of the sidewall and may have closed ends that face each other. A hybrid antenna may also be formed in the electronic device.

The slot switch may have a first terminal and a second terminal such that the portion of the slot is disposed between the first terminal and the second terminal. The slot switch may be switchable between a first configuration in which the first and second terminals are electrically connected and a second configuration in which the first and second terminals are not electrically connected. The computing device may also include a switching controller configured to switch the slot switch between the first and second configurations.

摘要: An electronic device may have wireless circuitry with antennas. An antenna resonating element arm for an antenna may be formed from peripheral conductive structures running along the edges of a device housing. Elongated conductive members may longitudinally divide openings between the peripheral conductive housing structures and the ground. The elongated conductive members may extend from an internal ground to outer ends of the elongated conductive members that are located adjacent to the gaps. Transmission lines may extend along the elongated conductive members to antenna feeds at the outer ends. The elongated conductive members may form open slots that serve as slot antenna resonating elements for the antenna.
