    摘要: A monolithic microwave integrated circuit including an integral array antenna. The system includes radiating elements, feed network, phasing network, active and/or passive semiconductor devices, digital logic interface circuits and a microcomputer controller simultaneously incorporated on a single semi-insulating GaAs substrate by means of a controlled fabrication process sequence.The resulting integrated circuit structure built upon a semi-insulating GaAs substrate provides a unique monolithic structure capable not only of phase-shifting, amplifying or otherwise controlling and conducting r.f. electrical signals but also capable of directly radiating/receiving r.f. electromagnetic emanations propagated to/from the integral antenna elements of the monolithic structure.

    摘要: An electronic phase shifter utilizes a serrodynable digital phase shifter which is driven by the output of a multi-bit counter. The counter in turn has its clock input driven by a pulse train which produces the desired frequency translation for noise and deception jamming. Alternatively, the counter has jam inputs for electronic antenna steering and electronic phase shift applications. In order to compensate for step phase error which causes undesirable spurious sidebands, the cells of the phase shifter are pretested for individual phase errors and an interface memory is provided which by use of a corrected counter code minimizes the errors.

    摘要: The phase shifter start/stop electronic trimming circuit provides a means r electronically trimming phase shifters when stop/start two axis steering is used. A time delay is incorporated into the start logic line of each phase shifter driver allowing the particular insertion phase characteristic of the microwave portion of the phase shifter to be accounted for. Variations of 360 degrees of insertion phase can be trimmed by this method. Delaying the start pulse into the logic device makes the phase setting less than that required of a perfect phase shifter, thereby correcting all units whose insertion phase is longer than the perfect unit. Consequently, the nominal insertion phase of a perfect unit will normally be the shortest phase length encountered. Where a shorter than nominal insertion phase is involved, the insertion phase difference may be subtracted from 360.degree. and using the value.

    摘要: A spread beam computational section of a digital beam controller for an electronically controlled phased array radar includes a linear computational portion for computing a plurality of pairs of intermediate digital words corresponding to a desired spread beam radar pattern; and a non-linear computational portion for computing a spread beam phase command word from each computed pair of intermediate digital words which have been digitally rounded off. The instant disclosure is directed to apparatus which is disposed in the spread beam computational section for digitally rounding off each computed pair of intermediate digital words by adding randomly generated digital words to a residue bit portion thereof, preferably to the most significant bits of the residue bit portion. The corresponding pairs of resultant words from the additions are truncated to a primary number of bits, more significant than the residue bits, prior to being provided to the non-linear computational portion of the spread beam computational section. The randomization process embodied by the digital round off apparatus permits the computed intermediate digital words to be rounded off to fewer significant bits than that offered by other known systems while preserving the error contribution due to the round off operation within desirable limits. As a result, the non-linear computational hardware of the beam spreading computational section may be substantially reduced.

A feedback loop between the two amplifier stages includes another diode serving to stabilize the current flow through the phase-shifter diodes upon closure of the electronic switch by a control device and triggering of the input stage by a signal from a reference-voltage generator.

The 45.degree. device is located between the 90.degree. and 180.degree. devices to minimize the VSWR. In addition to the preset phase shift devices, an analog phase shifter device is provided which compensates for the inaccuracy of the other devices.

    摘要: A digitally controlled wideband phase shifter is disclosed in which an input signal is resolved into two quadrature related components, the components are scaled in a stepped digital manner in proportion to the sine and cosine of the phase shifting angle, and then recombined to reconstitute a phase shifted replica of the input signal. The scalers are segmented MESFETS of a dual gate design in which each segment, has a predetermined transconductance and may be gated "ON" or "OFF" by a control signal to affect the overall transconductance of the scaler, and thereby the scaling factor.The phase shifter is implemented by a monolithic microwave integrated circuit technique in which the preferred substrate material is gallium arsenide, and in which all active device and circuit features are formed on the substrate by a photolithographic process. The phase shifter is adapted to scaling at stepped angles, typically 111/4 or 221/2 degrees, is broadband and is applicable to frequencies ranging from a fraction of a gigahertz to many gigahertz.
