摘要： This invention disclosure is an electrical outlet receptacle containing the high voltage AC side and low voltage DC power supply used typically for charging and/or powering portable electronic devices. The charge connector for interfacing with the portable device is contained in a removable module. Furthermore the removable module may contain a retractable charge cord or charge cords, charge status indicator lights, power supply switches, and it also may contain a portion of the power supply control circuitry to provide the particular power and signaling required to interface with the specific portable device. The other portion of the power supply and control circuitry would be contained in the fixed portion of the receptacle and/or the electrical box. Finally there may be additional heat sinks to provide enough thermal dissipation from the power supply.

摘要： According to one aspect, embodiments herein provide a power distribution device including a power outlet comprising a receptacle including an internal conductor configured to be coupled to a power source and to an external conductor inserted into the receptacle, a switch configured to provide an indication of whether the external conductor has been sufficiently inserted within the receptacle, a relay configured to form a first connection between the external conductor and the power source, a transistor configured to be coupled in parallel with the relay, to form a second connection between the external conductor and the power source, and a controller configured to determine, based on the switch, that the external conductor is being removed, in response to the external conductor being removed, control the relay to sever the first connection, and in response to opening the relay, control the transistor to sever the second connection after a predetermined delay.

The electrical plug has at least one prong having at least one opening. The electrical receptacle has at least one socket, an electrical contact positioned within the at least one socket, a light source positioned to transmit light through the at least one socket, and a photodetector positioned to receive the light transmitted by the light source through the at least one socket. The electrical receptacle further has a microprocessor programmed to selectively couple the electrical contact with the power source based on the light received by the photodetector.

摘要： An electrical receptacle includes at least one motion sensor for detecting movement of a blade of an electrical plug in the receptacle, an extraction detector operatively connected to the motion sensor for generating a signal in response to movement of the blade at a predetermined rate, a position detector operatively connected to the motion sensor for determining the position of the blade in the receptacle, a switch operatively connected to the extraction detector and the position detector for de-energizing the receptacle when the extraction detector detects extraction of the blade from the receptacle at a rate equal to or greater than the predetermined rate and wherein the extraction detector and switch are operative to de-energize the receptacle in less than six milliseconds when the extraction detector detects extraction of the blade from the receptacle at a rate equal to or greater than the predetermined rate.
