摘要: A reconfigurable network for interconnecting tools in a bottom hole assembly is disclosed. The network includes nodes that have reconfigurable switches that can be configured to provide a conductive path for the bus through the node, connect a terminator to the bus, and/or connect a tool to the bus. The exact configuration (i.e., states) of the switches in each node may be automatically selected based on a detected fault in a tool attached to a node and/or the state of other switches in the node or/a specific request is received. Various node embodiments and a method and circuit for automatically disconnecting a tool from the network in response to a tool fault are further disclosed.

摘要: A method for correcting protection settings in a relay provided in a micro-grid between a grid-connected settings group when the micro-grid is electrically coupled to a utility grid and an islanded settings group when the micro-grid is disconnected from the utility grid. The method determines whether the micro-grid is connected to the utility grid and what settings group the relay is in. The method changes the settings group of the relay to the grid-connected settings group if a time that the micro-grid is connected to the utility grid and the relay is in the islanded settings group exceeds a predetermined time and changes the settings group of the relay to the islanded settings group if the time that the micro-grid is not connected to the utility grid and the relay is in the grid-connected settings group exceeds the predetermined time.

摘要: Method and system allowing more accurate detection and identification of unwanted arcing include novel processing of signal voltage representing recovered power-line current. In one implementation, arc-faults are detected based on numerical analysis where individual cycles of line voltage and current are observed and data collected during each cycle is processed to estimate likelihood of presence of arc-event within each individual cycle based on pre-defined number of arc-events occurring within pre-defined number of contiguous cycles. In another implementation, fast transient current spikes detection can be done by: computing difference values between consecutive line-current samples collected over a cycle, average of differences, and peak-to-peak value of line-current; comparing each difference value to average of difference; comparing each difference value to peak-to-peak value; and, based on calculation of composite of two comparisons, using thresholds to determine if arcing is present within processed cycle.

摘要: A method of free wave energy protection for a half-wavelength line based on a one-sided current includes: performing sampling and calculation on a current at protection measuring points to obtain variations in current sampling values; and activating a protective element to determine an occurrence time of a fault in a half-wavelength line. A free wave energy protection section includes a quick-action section, a basic section and a sensitive section, wherein the quick-action section, the basic section and the sensitive section serve as action criteria for performing protection with respect to the free wave energy of the half-wavelength line.

摘要: A method of current differential protection performed in a control device is disclosed, wherein the control device has a first operate-restrain characteristic with a differential characteristic pick-up setting ID. The method includes: determining currents of all terminals of a protected object; determining a differential current based on the determined currents; determining direct current, DC, components in the respective determined currents; detecting a fault; and adjusting, for a detected external fault, the operate-restrain characteristics by setting an adjusted differential characteristic pick-up setting ID_adj to be equal to the sum of the differential characteristic pick-up setting ID and the determined DC components, providing an adapted operate-restrain characteristics. Corresponding control device, computer program and computer program product are also disclosed.

摘要: A circuit interrupter includes an electronic trip unit structured to receive power from a power supply. The electronic trip unit includes a start-up process and is structured to proceed through the start-up process when the electronic trip unit begins receiving power from the power supply and a timing circuit including a capacitor structured to begin charging when the electronic trip unit begins receiving power from the power supply. The electronic trip unit includes a processor that is structured to read a voltage across the capacitor when the start-up process has completed and to determine an elapsed time of the start-up process based on the read voltage across the capacitor.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of preventing misoperation about a relay protection device in a smart substation. Reversely operating CPU operation results of two operation records about the relay protection device, in order to form corresponding disassembler codes. According to disassembler codes, calculating similarity of the CPU operation results of the two operation records about the relay protection device by a structured method. Judging whether the similarity is greater than a set threshold or not. If the similarity is greater than the set threshold, the CPU operation results of the two operation records about the relay protection device to be the same, otherwise, the CPU operation results of the two operation records about the relay protection device are judged to be different. The present invention avoids the misoperations of the relay protection device on operation.
