A wireless device determines that a radio link failure (RLF) or a switch trigger condition is occurred for a cell among the multiple carriers, herein the multiple carriers each is set to a cell each, reconfigures an enhanced Physical Downlink Control Channel (ePDCCH) set of the cell that the RLF or the switch trigger is occurred, and determines whether cells of the multiple carriers each is on or off according to the reconfiguring. Thus, more efficient and accurate cell planning schemes are provided to transmit between the small cells and the UE to support inter-cell interference reduction and carrier extensions.

In an instance in which the number of acknowledgement (ACK)/negative acknowledgement (NACK) bits corresponding to the DL subframes included in the DL association sets for respective component carriers differ by at least a predetermined amount, the method modifies the number of ACK/NACK bits corresponding to the DL subframes that are included in the DL association sets for each of the respective component carriers. The method may also cause transmission of the ACK/NACK bits in accordance with the DL association sets, as modified, via the respective component carriers. Embodiments of the present invention provide methods for calculating and feeding back channel quality information and apparatus. The method for calculating includes: calculating, by a terminal, channel quality information (CQI) of a non-backward compatible carrier, according to usable PDSCH resources in the non-backward compatible carrier; wherein resources occupied by a downlink control channel are not assumed into the usable PDSCH resources in the non-backward compatible carrier, the number of the resources occupied by the downlink control channel being less than the number of usable resources configured by a base station for a downlink control channel in a backward compatible carrier. With the methods and apparatus provided by embodiments of the present invention, calculation of corresponding CQI varies along with a change of a usable PDSCH physical resource, so as to avoid degradation of accuracy of CQI calculation due to a load change, thereby improving the performance of the system.
