摘要: A method and apparatus for enabling a network to determine the call volume rate versus the call blocking rate on a predefined time interval basis over multiple predefined time intervals are disclosed. For example, if call blocking rates do not show a progressive trend of decline as call volume rates decline over multiple predefined time intervals, an alarm can be generated and corrective actions to flush out congested signaling message queues can be initiated to return the network to normal operating conditions.

摘要: A periodic process timer is incorporated into a multi-tasking operating system of an automatic call distributor system. The process timing method includes the steps of: a) initializing a plurality of accumulator values corresponding to a single process of a plurality of processes, each accumulator value defined to represent a total processing time for each process; b) recording a starting value of a counter device; c) activating the counter device prior to execution of a selected process; d) permitting the selected process to execute; e) stopping the counter device after execution of the selected process; f) reading and ending value of the counter device; g) determining a difference value between the starting value and the ending value in the counter device; h) adding the difference value of the counter device to the accumulator value corresponding to the selected process; i) continuously repeating steps (b) through (h) until a predetermined amount of time has elapsed, to obtain a total accumulator value representing the total processing time for each selected process; and j) saving the accumulator values for each selected process.

摘要: A call scheduling and assignment method and apparatus that schedules each call request on an application processor of a multiple processor system that will process the call request in the smallest amount of time. This method and apparatus then places response time as the important criterion over equal utilization of application processors in a multiple processor system. This method and apparatus recognizes that some application processors are able to respond faster than others, even when operating at the same or higher call load as other processors in the system. For such very common situations, the faster processors can and should be allowed to process a proportionally greater amount of the call processing load. By doing so, the calling customer receives a shorter wait and the system owner receives more call revenue for the same system equipment.

摘要: An internal routing method in an internal network for improving signaling message processing capability by balancing the workload among message handling processors (MHP) in common channel signaling system used in electronic exchanges. An internal routing algorithm is provided in the internal network to balance the workload among MHP's based on the characteristics of a circuit identification code (CIC). An identifying trunk circuit is uniformly distributed, and a load unbalancing factor is formulated approximately as a function of the number of failed MHP's as a worst case. With this approach, all MHP's are loaded almost equally regardless of the number of failed MHP's.

摘要: This invention relates to a method of allocating new telecommunications cells to one of a plurality of processors, and to control acceptance of new calls when in overload. The method is based on measuring the real time occupancy of each processor periodically, and allocating new calls for the following period in such a way as to attempt to make each processor's occupancy approach the average occupancy of all the processors. An overload state is detected when the average occupancy of the processors in one period exceeds a predetermined threshold, e.g., 90%. When this happens, load is shed in an amount calculated to restore the average occupancy to the threshold value over a number of periods of time. Advantageously, this method optimizes the call processing capacity of the processors.

摘要: Call-associated series of information-processing requests, accepted in decentralized switching facilities, are composed of initial switch identifiers which arrive first and of successor switch identifiers arrive following thereupon and are transmitted to a central switch mechanism from the switching facilities which are present in a greater plurality. A measuring device which continuously determines the loadability of a switching circuit periodically and continuously adjust the comparison standard of a counter, which only counts the initial switch identifiers in successfully following time intervals, perceives a pending overload situation for the switching circuit on the basis thereof and, in order to avoid the same, transmits non-acceptance data to the switching facilities in which, a portion of the received occupations are subjected to non-acceptance in accordance with accordingly stored non-acceptance rates. After a rest interval of the non-acceptance events due to a temporarily lower load, initialization of a renewed formation and transmission of the non-acceptance data occurs on the basis of the threshold pertaining to the number of initial switch identifiers incoming to the switching circuit per time unit, this threshold being continuously adjusted by way of measured loadability results which are derived in measuring time intervals which compensate unsteady low fluctuations from full load, actual load and actual numbers of initial switch identifiers per measuring time interval.
