摘要: A network communication apparatus receives packet data transmitted over an IP network in accordance with a transmission control scheme based on UDP. The network communication apparatus includes a last control signal determination portion, and a processing object exclusion portion. The last control signal determination portion determines whether a last control signal which is to be received in a last step in a continuous reception procedure of continuously receiving a plurality of the packet data, is included in one or a plurality of redundant packets added to the packet data received in the continuous reception procedure. The processing object exclusion portion, when the last control signal determination portion determines that the last control signal is included in the redundant packet, excludes the last control signal from processing objects to be processed in the network communication apparatus.

摘要: In an embodiment of the invention, an apparatus for a user programmable facsimile (fax) machine to screen unwanted transmission, includes: a programmable facsimile (fax) machine configured to receive a programmable code; and a transmitting fax machine configured to send a destination phone number associated with the programmable fax machine across a network; wherein the programmable fax machine establishes communication with the transmitting fax machine if the transmitting fax machine sends the destination phone number across the network and accepts fax data from the transmitting fax machine if the transmitting fax machine sends a code that matches the programmable code. In another embodiment, a method for a user programmable facsimile (fax) machine to screen unwanted transmission, includes: providing, by a destination user, a programmable code to a programmable facsimile (fax) machine; sending, by a transmitting fax machine, a destination phone number associated with the programmable fax machine across a network; and accepting, by the programmable fax machine, fax data from the transmitting fax machine if the transmitting fax machine sends a code that matches the programmable code.

摘要: Previously recommended methods of transmitting facsimile data on the telephone network resulted in periods of time when there is no signal present in the network; one consequence of this was that the retraining time required for the facsimile modem's receiver after each quiet period was undesirably long. This problem is solved by the high-speed transmitter sending two or more holding tones whenever it is not sending training or facsimile signals; these tones prevent re-routing of a telephone connection and allow the high-speed receiver to continue to track data clock and carrier frequencies, thereby considerably reducing the time required for retraining.
