摘要: Systems and methods are described for distribution of content within a vehicle. A server having a first set of content stored within a memory can be communicatively coupled with one or more clients such as using a plurality of wireless access points. Each of the clients can have a processor, memory, and transceiver, such that it can communicate with the server and potentially its neighbors. Groups of the clients can be communicatively coupled, such as via a wired or wireless network, which permits the clients to communicate with one another to retrieve content, for example, rather than burden the server or the wireless access points.

摘要: A vehicle entertainment system including a server storing media files, and smart monitors. Each smart monitor presents media selections corresponding to the media files and receives an input from passengers for playing a selection. Each smart monitor includes local content storage storing a subset of the media files. A network connects the smart monitors and server. Program logic executed by each smart monitor performs tasks including determining if a media file corresponding to an input is available from a first source, and if available, playing the media file from the first source; if the media file is not available there, determining if the media file required is available from a second source and if available, playing the media file from the second source; and if the media file is not available from the second source, determining if the media file is available from a third source.

The control module unit may include a plurality of communication ports, and a plurality of relays coupled to at least one communication port of the plurality of communication ports, wherein each communication port of the plurality of communication ports corresponds to at least one cabin service of the plurality of cabin services, and wherein each relay of the plurality of relays provides discrete control of an associated cabin service of the plurality of cabin services.

摘要: Onboard servers, and methods for communicating over wireless interface between an onboard server installed in an airplane and a ground server located remote from the airplane. Executable application code and first user data is received by the onboard server from the ground server before take-off of the airplane and stored. At least a part of the executable application code is executed by the onboard server. The onboard server receives delta user data from the ground server after the take-off and before landing of the airplane. The first delta user data updates the first user data to form second user data. The onboard server, after takeoff and before landing of the airplane, transmits at least a portion of the second user data to a seat entertainment terminal mounted within the airplane and/or to a personal mobile terminal of a user aboard the airplane for presentation to the user.

摘要: Consumable data objects are transferred from a source server to a vehicle server. The availability of a first data communications link from the source server to a vehicle server is detected and a count of consumable data objects stored on the vehicle server is generated. If the first data communications link is detected, the count is transmitted to the source server over the link. An identifier of the vehicle server is derived from the first data communications link, and this identifier is associated with the count. A consumable data object replenishment count is generated based upon an evaluation of the count in relation to historic use data derived from past counts.

摘要: Systems and methods are described for presenting a television program to a viewer using a mobile television receiver. The television program is received at the mobile television receiver via a first signal transmitted by a signal source having a limited range. It is determined whether the mobile receiver will exit the limited range of the signal source and, before the mobile receiver exits the limited range of the signal source, an action is facilitated to allow the viewer to continue to view the television program. Actions that may be facilitated include tuning to an alternate source of the television program, obtaining a placeshifted media stream of the television program, recording the television program on a remote video recorder, or simply notifying the viewer that he or she is about to exit the limited range of the signal source.

摘要: Disclosed is a method and seat centric device for providing data over a plurality of communication channels inside an aircraft. In one aspect, the method comprises obtaining storage information of data from one or more aircraft servers and a request for subset of data from a seat centric device. The method further comprises, identifying location of the subset of data in at least one of the one or more aircraft servers based on an analysis of the request the storage information data and an available communication channels between the seat centric device and the aircraft server. Furthermore, the method comprises initializing a multipath protocol for transfer of the subset of data associated with the request between the aircraft server and the seat centric device and initiating data transfer associated with the request simultaneously over the available communication channels for providing the subset of data to seat centric device.

The video display system is configured to be mounted to a seatback of each passenger seat or to other structure such that the system may be utilized by the passenger. The display system includes a video display assembly having a display housing configured to be mounted to structure in the vehicle. A video monitor is housed within the display housing. The video display assembly includes a depending tab portion disposed below the area of the video monitor. The depending tab portion includes a tab display capable of displaying a computer generated graphic and/or information. The display system may also have one or more indicator lights provided adjacent the external edge of the display housing.

摘要: An encoder encodes moving image data and generates encoded moving image data. A transmission buffer accumulates the encoded moving image data. A transmission/reception unit transmits the encoded moving image data to an image reception device via a wireless communication line. A failure detector predicts whether or not the failure of a real-time transmission of the encoded moving image data occurs, and detects the time until the failure occurs. When the failure is predicted to occur, an encoding controller controls the encoder to decrease, within the detected time, the target bit rate when the encoder encodes the moving image data.

For example, a user may define a rule by which selected media content having attributes that satisfy a user-defined condition are downloaded, recorded, or streamed to a particular, user-specified user equipment device. The user may define and manage rules using media guidance menus, and may restrict other users from accessing the rules (e.g., parents restricting children).
