摘要: A method for controlling inking units having a plurality of zones and/or dampening units in printing presses, includes determining reference values, which are dependent on surface area coverage and/or location, through the use of a computer for the inking zones in the inking unit. Deviations of detected color measuring values from the reference values are calculated for each inking zone. The calculated deviations are compared with data stored in the computer and corresponding with causes of color problems. The computer determines causes of color problems in the inking unit and/or dampening unit by comparison with the data.

摘要: The ink in a printing press, in which a stock of material is being printed in an ongoing printing process, is registered. At least one ink is applied to the stock in several inking zones. A measured value, indicating an ink density, is determined for the at least one ink which is being applied to the stock in the printing process and within the printing press. A relation is formed between the measured ink density for a specific ink in a selected ink zone and a measured ink density value determined for the same ink in at least one other inking zone. The relation between the measured ink density values in different inking zones is formed only if the majority of the inking zones of a specific inking unit of the printing press supply one respective measured ink density value for an ink supplied by that inking unit, and when the measured ink density value reaches at least a predetermined fraction of a preset, desired value in the respective inking zone.

摘要: A method is used for adapting an inking unit of a printing press. During a setup phase for the printing press, at least a first actual value with regard to an ink application that is set at the inking unit and that is applied to the printed material, is determined by use of a first measuring device. The inking unit is initially set using this first actual value. During continuous printing of the printing press, a plurality of second actual values, with respect to a printed image formed on the printed materials, are determined using a second measuring device which is different from the first measuring device. These second values are fed to an ink adapting device for the inking unit. At least one of these several actual values, which corresponds to the setting mode in the setting phase, is set in the ink adjusting device as its setpoint value. The ink adjusting device detects deviations of the other second actual values for this setpoint value and adjusts the inking unit to minimize these deviations.

摘要: A printing machine provided allows even unskilled operators to perform ink and water supply control according to the contents of an image. While a reference image to be printed is segmented into a plurality of regions similar in contents, image data is obtained from printed matter and a color difference between the reference image and a print image is calculated. Ink and water (I/W) supplies are determined based on regional color difference data obtained by summing the color differences for each region. At this time, by adding correction of the regional color difference data based on the characteristics of each region and the contents of the image, and correction of the I/W supplies based on external factors and variables, even unskilled operators can perform rapid I/W supply control based on the contents of the image.

摘要: An ink fountain of the type in which ink is metered from nozzles located in respective zonal positions. The nozzles have narrow axially extending openings in general alignment with one another closely side by side. A tank is provided adjacent the fountain roller, with the nozzles being in the form of slots at the bottom of the tank, the tank being sealed and connected to a source of viscous ink under predetermined pressure. Reciprocable slides are arranged side by side interposed between the nozzles and the surface of the fountain roller, each slide having a reference position for normally blocking off ink flow from the associated nozzle and being retractable to open the nozzle. A solenoid is connected to each of the slides for forcibly and temporarily retracting the slide from its reference blocking position. Each solenoid has a biasing spring for restoring the slide to its reference blocking position. An individually adjustable timing device is controllingly connected to each solenoid for cyclically energizing it for pre-set intervals of time which correspond to the ink requirement in the respective zonal position. The tank in the preferred embodiment is supplied with ink through a supply line fed by a pump from an open reservoir.

摘要: A method of controlling parameters of an ink layer at a selected location in a printing unit of a printing machine, the printing machine including at least one ink source for producing the ink layer on a transport device, whereon metering variables for regulating the application of ink to the transport device are zonally settable, and further including the transport device for transferring the ink layer to the selected location. The method includes, for each zone of the ink layer, using a subject to be printed for determining desired values of parameters which the ink layer is to have at the selected location, and setting the metering variables of the ink source, based upon the desired values of the parameters, so that the parameters of the ink layer as the ink layer is applied to the transport device have temporary values deviating from the desired values, the deviation being such that an exchange of ink between the zones, taking place in the transport device, leads to the ink layer reaching the desired values of the parameters as the ink layer is transferred to a printing form.
